With Quintana’s next scheduled throwing session on Opening Day, he wouldn’t likely be able to make an MLB start until April 1 or 2 at the earliest.

As such, we may cross the line from boldness into stupidity if we roster both Quintana and Uribe, leaving us with 11 available pitchers (including a Rule 5 pick) for the first few games.

I won’t be surprised if we option Uribe and make do without him for the first 19 days of the MLB season, as that may be better than depriving the team of Quintana’s quasi-length.

So Chad Patrick or Logan Henderson could very well grab Uribe’s roster spot to start the year.

I would guess the 26th man isn’t in the organization yet. There’s no reason to keep Collins with the big league club, and no reason to keep Margot at all.

With refusing to guarantee Canha a spot on the 26 man, it gives of the vibe that they’re waiting for a player to shake loose from another club

The Rangers placed Dane Dunning on waivers.

Would fit a perfect need with Milwaukee can start or give length from the bullpen and even controllable through 26. The question is if he would make it that far on waivers

Margot was already released …….he is apparently headed for the Tigers.

They might also just be looking at Collins as a short term placeholder if Perkins’ rehab is going well.

Looks like I’m going to be wrong on this……I’m just not sold on him but I understand that they want to get it out of the way with a fully rested staff to start the season.

If they aren't going to have Quintana on the OD roster, absolutely get the Uribe suspension out of the way.

There is reason to keep Collins, if they find nothing else he can stay but if they pickup somebody they just option him. There is flexibility with Collins.

I don't think Collins outplayed Mone in anyway so I am also thinking the 26th man isn't on the roster and Collins will go down. I would rather go with Patrick or Henderson over guys like Dunning or Flexen. Adam Ottavino would be a decent relief option, at 39 he had good k numbers and a 3.67 fip shows better than his 4.34 era. I haven't seen an bats released that excite me.

Collins is an OF. Monasterio is an IF. Not really comparable.

To be fair Collins did play over 250 combined innings at 2B and 3B last year. Primarily an OF absolutely but he can handle the infield.

I don't think throwing Henderson into MLB would be wise. I have loved the guy for years now but that 5.13 FIP at AAA tells me he might need just a little more time. I also agree that Patrick is way better than Flexen or anyone, just saying they could be interesting guys to approach

It's almost a move they have to make.  There's not gonna be a time where the staff is more rested and if you want him at all before September, that suspension needs to be cleared.  The longer he goes without serving the suspension the more of an albatross it becomes.

Trying to remember-----weren't his splits close to even at AAA last season?

I actually have an 0.856 OPS batting righty last season in Nashville but, regardless, you can find all those lefty-batting or righty-batting splits for any player via the MiLB.com main page Stats portal. We don't get Statcast for anything but Triple-A, sadly but we do get a wealth of compiled stats overall if you eliminate the qualifiers and choose 'All Players'.

Here is a direct link to Collins batting righty in the International League last season (ranked 90th overall of the entire pool of candidates - no qualifiers)

I have always looked at Collins as more of a 2B but looking at stats he has played a lot more OF. Still with 4 everyday OF and Bauers likely I don't see a need for Collins. I am sure Dunn or Capra could play a decent emergency 6th OF if needed.
