Kremer is not a hall-of-famer -- he may be a gamer

BUT

let's make him a hall-of-shamer!

Priester will get off his kiester

AND

be our Win-Quinn, again!

I think it is time to give Freddie Zamora a shot at the bigs. His bat has been consistent in AAA and at least he has a really good defensive pedigree. Durbin back down to find the swing (stop pressing) and then rotate SS and 3B between Zamora, Mone, and Ortiz. If Seigler was healthy I would probably swap out Ortiz for Seigler and run Turang at SS more with Collins helping in the IF as well. We really need to try something different on the left side, it is getting better just letting things play out.

Zamora has an OPS of .701 since turning pro. 75 of his 298 hits in the minor leagues went for extra bases.

Durbin had a .782 OPS in the minors and 99 of his 291 minor league hits went for extra bases.

Despite having a better bat, Durbin hasn’t hit a lick in the majors yet.

Zamora has a pop gun bat and all the looks of a career minor leaguer who, despite being assigned to AAA, is probably closer to being out of affiliated ball than he is to seeing the majors.

I think the Orioles are on the level of the White Sox and we have to at minimum take 2 of 3 but it would be nice for a sweep being 6 games out.

Zamora is hitting .299/.413/,373 I fully understand there isn't power there or really much upside to be an everyday player but Durbin and Ortiz have given us nothing the past couple weeks. The big idea to the team would at very least be that we are trying to fix the 2 black holes at the end of the lineup, even if the options aren't great. Maybe a couple weeks down in AAA could jumpstart eithers bat to get back on track.

Sure, but the notion of calling someone up who has been worse over his career in the minors than the two players in Milwaukee who seemingly can’t hit seems like a desperation move more than anything.

Joey Ortiz has a wRC+ of 24 and not providing the assumed elite elite defense we thought. I am open to throwing any type of spaghetti at the wall. Knowing full well it most likely won't change a thing. Think a trade has to be on the table at some point to be the solution.

It is desperation, our SS/3B are about as bad as it gets right now, I am all for throwing darts and hoping one lands somewhere decent. I am like a week or two away from advocating that we should bring up Cooper Pratt and Brock Wilken straight from AA, development be damned the big league team needs help.

They’ve played 47 games out of 162. Sheesh

3B has been a combine -1.4 WAR (next lowest -1.1) and SS -1.9 WAR (also next lowest -1.1) (baseball-reference WAR). That is like -10 WAR if it continues the entire year, we are past the just give it time stage. Something has to be done because both spots are beyond bad right now. Being 3 under .500 in 4th with how good the rest of the NL has been really makes the division winner our best chance. We can just waste the next month hoping those 2 positions get solved internally especially not having really good options. I am not saying we should trade the entire system for players. Just make some conscious efforts to try something, if calling up Zamora for a week doesn't work what do we really lose maybe we trade Elvis Peguero for a decent but not star AAA prospect, again do we lose that much by trying.

Until we see more consistent hitting in more than one game in a series we can't assume we'll win 2 out out of 3 let alone sweep.

I don’t see Zamora as anything but change for change’s sake. Ortiz is probably going to be given every shot to play through it at least until summer. Otherwise, the optics of sending a player back to AAA who has nothing else to prove there and started 142 games in the majors last year isn’t good.l for a player they want as part of their core.

I could see the Brewers signing Chris Taylor from the Dodgers, or claiming Garret Hampson from Arizona or Nicky Lopez when the Cubs DFA him, and optioning Durbin back to AAA

Dont forget, the Miz got a serious look in Spring Training against big league hitters. He was really wild and frankly just didnt look good. His run at AAA has only been going about 6 weeks now. It may take a big more than 6 weeks to wash the poor Spring Training performance from the minds of Brewers brass.

Also needs a 40 man spot and with so many guys coming back those will be in short supply. I doubt they care about losing Rob-Z or McGee but other guys start becoming important

Are we really worried about the optics of sending Ortiz down when his OPS is way below .500? How about the optics of a team continuing to trot out a left side of the infield that has to be the worst in MLB.

Kind of? Ortiz is a pre arbitration eligible player who out up a 2.7 WAR for them as a rookie. I’m sure as long as his confidence isn’t shaken they’re not gonna do anything to damage his psyvhe. He’s a guy they plan on having for a number of years,
