I would assume most here are ready to see Ortiz sent down to AAA.  We have enough good infield defenders to fill his spot.   He is absolutely lost at the plate.  Has been all year. It’s time.  It has been for awhile now.

Move Monty over to SS for a couple weeks so that Ortiz can get hood swing back.   Trade for a 3B.  Let’s go.

I’m okay with that, so long as we stop sending Ortiz out there. He’s not himself clearly.  Spend some time in AAA and find yourself.

The problem is that Mone isn't a better option. That ab in the 8th against Adam from Mone is about as bad as it gets.

If we could even add a washed up vet for a couple weeks I would be on board.

Time to see what Seigler can do. Move Turang over to SS, give Seigler an extended look at 2B.

.306 this year in AAA but hit .238 in AA last year is very confusing.

Seigler is super interesting. Former 1st Rd pick. Is there any other intel on why he is "fixed" or of it truly just a change of scenery situation?

Having a switch hitting middle infielder to move around the batting order would tickle Murphy to no end..

Moving Monty there, wouldn't be an improvement at all.

Having him called up would be fine with me but for some reason most call ups are after the All star game.

SS and 3B sure seem to be the main concerns.  Off the wall Question just pick only one to replace?

shortstop. I say that without knowing the defensive drop off though

durbin has had enough frelich like impact on the game that I would like to see more from him

They tried that in Spring Training and it did not work out. 3 errors in 18 games and he is 24.

Why not give Zamora and Siegler a try in place of Ortiz and Monasterio? I realize there is a 40 man roster issue bu Cameron and a AAA relief pitcher would be dfa candidates if they want to keep Monestario.

Unfortunately options are limited. I don’t care to see Monasterio or Zamora as the full time SS. They don’t move the needle on either side of the ball. I could be persuaded to go Turang/Seigler up the middle, but it’s tough to move Turang off 2B unless you think Seigler is going to hit right away and play passable defense

What's your point?

My point is:  I have always disliked Black for years and have been bashed repeatedly for revealing that.

If your point is to write off a guy after a whopping 57 PAs, then that’s awfully foolish

There’s plenty of time for the bat to come around, but the lack of a defensive home is the real issue

He is young and will be 25 in a month but totally reminds me of the Keston Hiura, Joey Wiemer type who hits overs .300 in the minors and .200 in the bigs. Just my opinion.

Moving Turang mid-season should be a non-starter, especially after the arm issues in spring training.

Seigler is intriguing due to his versatility.  If they ever bite the bullet and put Contreras on the IL he could slide in as the backup catcher as well.

That doesn't solve for SS, but there just isn't a good 2025 option in the organization.

Not entirely unlikely. But it's kind of hard to move a guy not only off a position he excels at, but to do so in the middle of a season where all his prep has taken place at 2B. Yes, Turang has played plenty of SS, but it's been awhile. Throws and positioning, footwork etc all change and the muscle memory doesn't come back over night. Maybe at that point they would figure they have nothing to lose however by trying it.

I'd feel a lot more comfortable with Seigler at 2B than anywhere else on the infield. He's got five games total at 3B...and that's it. Unless Turang's still got lingering arm problems, I doubt there's any issue of him making the transition back to SS, a position he's played all his life.
