Draft is in 8 days, bucks pick 47th. I don't see how they can take a project again.

Last year they could have taken Dunn in the 1st and Kolek in the 2nd. Both would have helped last season and could have been key contributors of the bench this year.

Looking at mocks, I do like Kam as a 3pt shooter off of the bench this year. More possibilities are Nembhard and Brea. I do like RJ Luis, but his jump shot isn't where the other 3 are.

So many needs and no meaningful picks available to the Bucks.  They could get lucky at 47 but I highly doubt whoever they pick at 47 will be relevant for the Bucks.  The Bucks also have Doc coaching so the rookie won’t play anyways.

Konan-Niederhauser seems like a big that could fall as seniors typically do in drafts these days, in addition to the players above that I’d like. The do need a big as well.

I would see if we can do a trade to add a 1st late. Here are some ideas.

Beal and 29 for Lillard

I doubt anyone wants Beal, if Pheonix is in full sell it might have to add #29 to get rid of him. Also Dame could have some value next summer on an expiring deal. It would also give us a name and shooter to pair with Giannis.

Nurkic, Grant Williams, and 2 seconds (33,34) for Kuzma and Pat C and heavily protected 2031 (like top 20).

Giannis gets front court help, this would depend alot on how the Hornets think Kuzma would fit in with Mark Williams, Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges, and #4 (Edgescomb or Bailey) (a lot better than Nurkic in my opinion).

27) C Danny Wolf/Maxime Reynauld   Both are big man who would have a year with Nurkic to learn.  Wolf is a good passer with some shooting potential and Reynauld is more of a Brook style perimeter player.

33)PG Kam Jones.

I think Kam can be alot like Kevin Porter, we need ball handling playmaker bad.

34)PF Johni Broom/Eric Dixon

Another big guy to help Giannis, both would assume some of the Bobby Portis role. Broom would be the physicality end and Dixon would be more the scoring option.

47)GTyrese Proctor

A good shooter who could play either guard spot. Another guy with lots of experience to be able to play right away.

Add in Tyus or Tre Jones to play point (I wouldn't mind Russ Westbrook either) and a couple cheaper wings like last year. Not great but it does get us younger and adds some upside.

Tre/Tyus Jones, Beal, FA, Giannis. Nurkic

Kam Jones, AJ Green, 2 rookie bigs, FA wing, Proctor, Smith

Is Boston on a salary dump this year? Word is they're now trading Porzingis to Atlanta.

Yeah, believe I saw the Jrue/Kristaps moves get them under the second tax apron and saves them something like $200M on their tax bill.

CBS Sports has John Tonje going to the Bucks at 47.  That's on the later side for Tonje, but I'd be happy with that.

That would be a good pick at 47.

I am hoping somehow the Bucks are able to get into the 20-30 range.  Not sure how they can do this.  I wouldn’t be surprised if they trade Jackson for a pick.

It seems like a weak draft. what I don't want is for the bucks to trade a future 1st to get into the first tonight.

They may be able to buy a pick.  They are going to lose Portis and Porter so they should have some cap flexibility to buy a pick.  They may need to trade a future 2nd.

Bucks have Bird Rights on Portis. Wouldn't blame him if he wants to get out of town after having his house robbed, his grandma dying, and then getting a ticky tack drug suspension to round out the trifecta of a bummer year, but unless someone offers a truly insane deal I think he'll be back in Milwaukee.

He's also got a clear line to the starting spot if Brook isn't retained, or is brought back on a lesser salary in more of a situational role.

Also not sure if there is anyone out there that can offer KPJ a better gig to continue rebuilding his value than the Bucks can starting next to Giannis for the year with Dame out.

If it comes down to GTJ or KPJ for the mid level exception give me Trent, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if Porter is back with the Bucks after they made a concerted effort to acquire him at the deadline.

Unless the Bucks are willing to include our 2031 1st rounder (I think that's the first one we can deal), I don't see us doing much of anything. Maybe try and swing another 2nd rounder -- but who knows. Just so few tools in the arsenal at this time.

They could buy a pick which does happen in the later part of the NBA draft.

I would all be for trading for another 2nd round pick or two in this draft.  The 2nd round looks like it should have some interesting players that could fit and play for the Bucks.  Kam Jones and John Tonje would be easy fits into the Bucks rotation.  The Bucks need another G and preferably a PG so Kam Jones would fit that  and John Tonje could fit at SG or SF.  He maybe too small to play SF in the NBA.  Try and get picks 37 and 40.  Take Rocco Zikarsky with the 37th pick, Kam Jones at 40 and then John Tonje at 47.

I think that would fill all of the holes that the Bucks have currently.

I'm just gonna say I look forward to all the misspellings of Bogoljub Markovic.

Could have been worse.  Was hoping for a trade or two for some more picks in the 2nd round.

I guess they will use the trade exception from the Middleton trade to get someone like Jevon Carter.

Exactly. I'm expecting something like that. Whether it's Carter or not is another question - but I'm guessing they use it to take a guy who a team will be happy to lose (like Carter) who has moved out of the club's rotation - and can help us.

There are teams that are really cap-challenged that would love to unload a $7m or so player without taking back anything. So you never know what they could get.

All that assumes we don't trade Giannis.

47. Milwaukee Bucks: Bogoljub Marković, F, Mega Basket

Grade: A+

Marković was a first-rounder on my personal big board, so I consider him a steal at this point of the draft. And he makes sense for the Bucks, regardless of what happens with Giannis Antetokounmpo since he’s a high upside stretch forward who also offers skill as a passer and post scorer. But to handle the rigors of the NBA and become a positive defender, he needs to add a ton of muscle, so he’d benefit from being draft-and-stashed for another year.

Don't know much about the guy but he was the top available player on ESPN at 47.

There are also reports that the bucks signed Mark Sears to a 2 way contract. Not sure how he translates as a pro, but he is an interesting prospect.

I am pretty stoked for Bogi at 47. Hard to root against a 19-yo Big Man efficiently playing 29 mpg for KK Mega. Really hard to root against that. He can pass. He can shoot. He grew up a PG so he can dribble and see the floor. That is real competition and it's pick 47. Also quite happy to have Sears on a Two-Way for SL games alone. Having a guard who can actually get into the lane in multiple ways is huge in that environment.

I like Sears.  Lot of people complaining about Sears’ size but my comp if we get lucky is Fred VanVleet.

Regarding Marković, he looks long, agile, and skilled.  A true 4.  I can’t comment much beyond that.  Feels like he could go either way.  Hopefully he’s got the drive and motor to get there in time.

Unfortunately, the Bucks were mistaken in thinking that drafting Bogo actually got them another pick for free...

Seems like a good development pick... now if they would actually develop one of these guys instead of trading them away. 😉
