And for the penultimate pick we have Chase Bentley from IMG academy as a RHP at 6'3, 215lbs

A Texas Aggie commit, here are some details from March:

Interesting to see mention of a changeup to both sides of the plate with feel for a high school arm, very much a ground ball fastball that just drops on hitters like a bowling ball, but the secondaries have a ton of break and look like solid swing and miss offerings

Chase Bentley is committed to Texas A&M and is a klutch sports guy. Not even bothering looking up more after reading that lol. I'm predicting a sub 0% chance of signing him lol

A similar situation to the one @wiguy94 mentioned above, Ma'Kale Hodlen is an Alabama commit and hihgly unlikely to sign without a heck of a bonus

He's a two way athlete, showing talent on the mound and with some real pop in his bat to boot

I;m shocked to still be awake at midnight after covering the first pick last night, but here we are. Its been a fun draft folks!

The signing window closes at 5 pm on the 28th July I believe, and it seems the Brewers draft will very much depend on the number/quality of signings from 11-20 while they certainly have a lot of solid picks from rounds 1-10.

Getting 4 or even 5 of those late rounders would take it from a solid draft to a potentially great one in my eyes.

I'm fairly confident they'll grab at least one of the catchers as a priority but thats a gut feeling

If you take a bunch of high school kids and offer them some money, chances are a few of them will sign, right? :classic_laugh:

NIL now means they will get money either way.  :-(

Which is why we go after the lower ranked guys.

NIL for baseball isn’t going to incoming unranked freshmen. It’s going to transfers that will be playing over them this year (possibly the next too) and to retain your good players from transferring.

Maybe you never get an honest shot. That’s our sell.

Will we have an official signing thread?

We will indeed! I also have a spreadsheet set up already to track the signing bonuses and slot money available to the crew with each signing!

Thanks for everything, Jake! You made this a great experience.

Hey, and as for the late rounds where we likely drafted unsignable players, John Mellencamp once sang "I saw you first, don't that give me the right to move around your heart?"

never a bad idea to be able to say "we liked you back when"

For a system that is short on OF prospects, I was surprised that they only drafted one, and one with a relatively low ceiling.

Would have liked to see one or two power corner OF bats.  Maybe Fischer has more athleticism than the scouting reports give him credit for.  Maybe that's a backup plan for Brock.

I guess you can always trade pitching for hitting.

With the addition of 4-5 LHP’s fixing the dearth of lefties throughout the organization, that leaves OF’s with power upside as the only remaining system weakness in my eyes.

Fortunately, we have 4-6 years of control over 6 BL OF’s giving us plenty of time to fix that singular weakness.

Outfielders are often made and not born. I like to remember that Gorman Thomas was drafted as a shortstop.

I wish there was some tape of Gorman playing short!

Assuming we will sign 4 of the 11-20 picks, which four would you go for?

Here's mine: Hughes, Underwood, Bock and Cadiz
