I'm really looking forward to his return. I wonder if they will even bother with trying to get him up to a starter's workload for the rest of this season. If they could get him up to 40-50 pitches, he could be really valuable down the stretch.

The AA Shuckers can capture this weekend’s short series at Montgomery with a win tonight behind LHP Tate Kuehner (2.61 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 10.0 K/9 in 82.2 IP). C Matt Wood has a .908 OPS over his last 97 PAs.

Oh right! We also have a LHP Robert Gasser beginning his rehab. The current embarrassment of riches amongst the starting ranks is a beautiful thing. Let's hope he hits the rehab ground running with little to no setbacks and he can build up that tantalizing arsenal.

RHP Chad Patrick makes his 2nd AAA start of 2025 (6 IP, 2 R, 7 Ks eight days ago) as AAA Nashville looks to claim a home series win over Indianapolis. RF Daz Cameron (unclaimed by 29 GMs) is 9-for-16 with 4 homers over his last 4 games.

The Low-A Mudcats can capture their weekend series at Delmarva with a victory in support of 20-year old LHP Wande Torres (5.82 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, 9.7 K/9 in 51 IP). 2B Luis Pena has a 5-game hitting streak.

High-A Wisconsin welcomes newly-acquired C Andrick Nava (.499 OPS in 79 PAs this year) to the organization. 19-year old RHP Manuel Rodriguez (2.27 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 in 35.2 IP) gets the start at Cedar Rapids, with the T-Rats needing a win to even this weekend’s series.

I noticed Wood made the jump up the batting order recently. It took him a bit to adjust to AA, but he has looked pretty good at the plate lately.

Can someone give me the scouting report on Kuehner? All this dude does is put up great outings it seems. Is he legit back-mid rotation guy in the bigs, or will his stuff eventually get hit as he moves up to AAA and potentially if he gets to MLB?

His walk rate is brutal.  His stuff can play but probably as a lefty out of the pen.  I think his slider in particular is wild if I remember correctly.

He hit 3 HR in his first 24 AB at Biloxi. If that's taking a bit to adjust, I can't wait to see what a quick adjustment looks like. Equally as impressive as his consistent production at Biloxi at the dish has been his sudden other-wordly ability to throw runners out attempting to steal. We are legitimately watching a different player than we saw at both Carolina and Wisconsin and I am absolutely here for it.

Ryan Birchard's walk rate is brutal - 6.62/9 IP. Kuehner's walk rate is not ideal - 4.69/9 IP. In 2023, for example, the Southern League average BB/9 was actually 4.70.

I stand corrected, I don’t recall him getting off to a fast start.

All good. I only do because I was legitimately shocked at what I was witnessing - in the best way possible. Absolutely stoked for him.

Kuehner has legitimate starting potential - sure, he may be a bullpen arm when all is said and done but it would trend toward a multi-inning arm. Anyone who sits 93-94 mph but can cork back and touch 95-to-97 mph with his arm side run as a lefty is going to get serious run as a starter until that train falls off the tracks. He has a near side arm release - by my eyes it's beyond the 3/4 slot to a near sidearm hence his run really plays and he can fade it too. Two heaters. I personally don't worry about his current zonal 'issues'. They aren't absurd and he is a pitcher that very very well appears to be a guy who could just 'click' with an off-season of learning how to attack in the mold of, say, a Brandon Woodruff. His stuff moves so much I think he pitches near his targets but the pitches move and he just misses. He's still growing. He has a really nice change-up that plays off both heaters - he can really use it to dominate righties. He has also separated his slider and curve into two separate pitches. To think he is just a MLB reliever is short-sighted. You don't get the whiff rates he does as a starter and not get serious play. He'll very likely be in Triple-A and trying to knock on the doorstep in 2026. He is absolutely trending in all the right ways. He's 24. Next year will be his age 25 season.

Honestly I’m a bit shocked as well. I was at one of the first games in Biloxi after he was promoted but haven’t payed much attention to his stats

Lovely comeback by the Muddies to win their second in a row 3-2. RHP Jose Nova even pitched a clean 9th frame for the Save! You love to see it. I'm telling you: Nova absolutely has goods. He simply needs to learn how to harness it (as if we haven't said that about certain someones in Carolina/Wisconsin over the past two seasons - lol).

T-Rats got to take a lil bit of their second half frustrations out tonight. They lead 10-0 headed to the 9th inning. Oh hey! Areinamo with his second long ball in two nights - his 11th on the season. Lottttta cheddah in this box score. Tayden Hall hit his 2nd and 3rd HR of his season (man alive, it pains me how he can't get more consistent loft on the ball with his athleticism and pretty swing):

Is RHP Manuel Rodriguez back back? 5.0 IP scoreless. 1 H, 2 BB, 3 K. Really nice 2.0 IP of 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K work from LHP Anthony Flores

Fastball mid 90s, can touch 97, but more 94-95 and holds it pretty well. Pretty good change, needs his slider to come along.

Command, as usual is probably the biggest factor in him being a starter of a reliever... also, being part of this organization doesn't help as he's a lefty who can throw in the upper 90s and we're stacked with young starters, so easier path to being a reliever ... at least you'd assuming if he can touch 97 as a starter, 97-98 is reasonable in short spurts.

Either way, I think he'll need that slider for LHing, but definitely a guy who can play a role in the Brewers in the near future.

15 years ago, this guy would be our Zach Braddock without the famous Grandpa. Now, with respect to his ability, he about 1 of 49 guys who could help out in the next year or two for the big league club.

I only watched a couple outings, that's my take. Others may have more comprehensive reports or different takes, but...that's my take.
