Ok. 23 year old rookie misses 3 turns through the rotation. “Barely missed any time?”  Depends who you ask.

Fact is they’d be a stronger team with Cortes than Lockbridge or even Cortes/Haase then Jansen/Lockbridge.

Big picture is Misiorowski for whatever reason lasting less than 2 innings caused or contributed to cause their loss in extras today.

Right. I didn't argue that point.

I did argue that their current predicament was the result of trading a guy who'd started two games for us and both were in March/1st week of April.

LOL...I forgot what game threads are like... even in a season like THIS.

I think they've bunted quite a bit to tack on runs.  I refuse the argument that the bunt has been a crucial part of the offense and somehow critical to multiple wins.

....sure.

14-1 streak and everyone talking like were in the cellar.

Really, because all I see is "It had to end at some point", and "I'll trade the loss for a rested bullpen".

I think bunting is overrated and not an enormous part of our success this year, but I digress. Most bunt/don’t bunt decision are pretty 50/50 so I’m not going to put up a huge stink about it. I’ll agree that I don’t think playing for 1 run in extras on the road is the right call, unless you’re planning to throw Urine or Megill in the bottom half .

Anyway, pretty much just need to not have a disaster series in Chicago. Three or more would be good, two is not a disaster.

We didn't want Grant Anderson pitching against the Cubs anyway, we can send him down.

Even with a super-Sunday lineup and a short bullpen, the game almost landed in the area of near-invincibility for the Brewers.

Start a new streak tomorrow. Can even get two wins in one day.

Will be good to get Collins back.

I'll be happy if we win 2 or 3 out of 5 from the Cubs and keep our healthy lead in the division.

But I'd take a sweep, of course.

118-44 dreams squashed.  Great chance to win, despite being so diminished.  Better than rolling over 12-0.

The team will meet you in Chicago, ROY favorite!

Who's pitching for the Cubs tomorrow?

It was mentioned during the telecast that every game is TBA for the Cubs right now, which is so on brand for the Cubs.

Yeah I really don’t think it’s that big of a deal. No one is that upset. This is just literally like a postgame show of any sports game on the board. The game is going to be discussed.

We're a team that has used the bunt to win a lot of games this year. We'll use the bunt to win a lot more.

I really don't think the bunt has been a significant part of the Brewers offense.

But, regardless, for the reasons I gave I think that was not the right situation for a flat out sacrifice.

Bunting for a hit in the middle of a game is a completely different situation. Even Turang’s bunt before Monasterio’s HR last night was not a give up an out sacrifice.

No, it wasn't fun to lose this game, especially the way we lost it, but take 3 out of 5 from an offensively impotent Scrubs team and the division title is all but wrapped up.

As per the presser, Murphy was going to Anderson in the 9th to get a ground ball. I'd have stayed with Myers, but none of this stuff is done on a coin flip. I questioned it at the time as Myers looked great, now I know the reason why he did it. But not a sharp day for Anderson. The four pitch walk ahead of Friedel kinda proved that.

Abbott is awfully good.

Questioning a manager's bullpen decisions is the easiest thing to do because the critic is never wrong. He lives in a universe of his own speculations, not fact. But belief, dear friends, is not evidence.

And now the Cubs are winning.

Yeah. I wanted to stick with Tobias, but I acknowledge a move like that is probably so on the margins that it’s just really hard to get worked up about. Just one of those things that won’t look good for you if it doesn’t work out, and you’ll look like a genius if it does.

Yep. Taillon is back.

I'd suspect Taillon V Patrick in game two and Horton V Peralta in game 1

When you include the seed planted in the heads of a defense & opposing pitcher in addition to the actual times they do it, I think it's been very significant.

I would say that bunt has often been effective for us. Certainly, every Brewers batter works on it. It's not easy, and it is risky.
