Mears has to be better but for the love of God when a pitcher is throwing well let him continue pitching.  These guys are gassed and he keeps trotting them out there.  Ashby should have pitched that inning

That's what I was thinking. If management was as hell-bent on instant gratification as some fans are, we'd never be able to develop starting pitchers. They'd just be chucked in to the bullpen after a rough stretch.

We're beginning to see why some evaluators had Miz as a high leverage bullpen arm.  First few innings were fine and then it all comes apart.

As far as getting a string of good outings in the playoffs from an acquired pitcher, I am sure that is exactly what the Brewers are hoping to get out of Miller. We did add to the bullpen, even though it may not have been the most conventional trade.

Let me try it this way with an example. Suarez was a hot commodity at the deadline.. To be clear I never thought the Brewers had a shot at him or should have paid what it would have cost.

Within a week of the deal some people on this site were pointing out how poorly Suarez was hitting for Seattle.  He still hasn’t been hitting like he did for Arizona, though he does have 6 HRs.

Would you conclude now that that was a bad deal for the Mariners? They are in a wild card position, and Suarez still has time to go on a hot streak. I’m not just talking about one 3 run HR in a playoff game. He could carry the team for a period of time or provide support for their other sluggers.

So, I say wait until all,of the returns are in before declaring that a team did or didn’t make good moves at the deadline.
