Come on man he's third in the most recent Cy Young poll. Pitchers dont go 6 anymore. Less than 15 qualified guys average 6+ and one of them is Houser who isnt exactly an ace. Its not 1990 anymore

Freddy not being an ace, which I probably said at some point this year, is largely said because of people like me who grew up watching CGs, and saw 7 or 8 IPs regularly. By today's standard, he has definitely been an ace.

In this game, if you fail at the plate 70 percent of the time, you are an All Star. Everyone fails in some way, but the really good ones manage to do well a lot of the time. I don't think we always appreciate that.

Yeah. A CG today is about like a no-hitter "back in the day." If you go 6 or 7 these days you're considered a stud workhorse.
