I agree with this.    Chourio could always pinch hit if he feels ok

Head games by Murph...

Chourio is too hurt today.. no likely to play... then bam..  he's starting Monday and the Cubs didn't game plan for him. (Not that it helped today)

Collins can play, and play well.  Give Chourio Monday off and see what he feels like on Wednesday (although it would be nice to start him vs Imanaga...maybe he can DH?)

If he feels good, I'd just let him go.

Things turn quickly in this series... and with Gm3 starter being a question mark, things can turn too quickly. We need to jump on the Cubs with Priester throwing Gm2.

If he's not ready... then he's not ready, but I wouldn't sit him just to give him a couple more days.

Having him DH isn't ideal as it puts Yelich in LF, but... with Preister, that's not as big of a deal.

The Brewers offense going nearly dormant for their last five offensive innings lends to that feeling of weirdness.

They didn't score runs but they did hit the ball hard and had baserunners in the last six innings.  I counted about four warning track flyouts.

Jackson Chourio (hamstring) told reporters after Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday that his early exit due to hamstring tightness was a precautionary measure.

Chourio noted that he feels good and that he’s happy the Brewers came away with a victory on Saturday. The dynamic 21-year-old suffered the injury while legging out an infield single in the second inning on Saturday. The built in off-day plays to his advantage here as he should be ready to roll for Game 2 on Monday evening against the Cubs.

Checking in for the first time. Fun to read through these after all the nerves and anxiety.

Some observations:

1) CC starting Boyd was a bad call. It was the worse call before the game started, and I'm glad the Brewers made the Cubs pay. Now, the Cubs need Imanaga (2 starts), Taillon, and Boyd (who just got shelled) to win three games. The Brewers just need Priester (2 starts), Freddy, and Q to win 2. Math.

2) Don't underestimate getting Soroka, Civale, and Brown to throw so many innings. Yes, the Cubs got to rest their better arms. But if the Brewers can keep working starting pitchers, that damage today adds up.

3) I think the Hoerner error was the biggest play of the game. Opens the door to a big inning.

4) We seemed to lose a little bit of focus after the 2nd inning. That's understandable, but I really think we need to be in the every AB, the score doesn't matter mindset. It didn't matter much today. Hopefully we keep hammering away at the approach that worked all year on Monday, for 8 innings (and don't need the 9th).

5) Chuorio's injury sucks. I thought he was more angry at having to come out of the game than afraid it was bad, but we'll see what the MRI reveals. It's a tough call if it's borderline. You could replace him with Hoskins, but then he has to sit for the NLCS should you get that far. I don't think that should matter much to you. The question that does matter is: Will you get more value from Jackson as a DH/PH than you would from Hoskins in THIS series? If the answer is yes, he stays. If not...you gotta pull him.

6) The thing that makes Chuorio a tough call is that we have better defenders on the roster and the last guy left off is a proven, veteran power hitter. I'd probably keep Chuorio, provided he's a) not risking long-term injury and b) he can run like Salvy Perez.

Finally, every playoff win is good. In some ways, I found this one more stressful than close games, just because, at 9-1, you really had something to lose. Go Brewers!

I wonder if that was the one that hit a kid and used a racial slur towards the police.

It's not really his choice. If he didn't like the Brewers would have left long ago.

Too bad Hoskins was basically ignored once he came off the IL, and probably just isn't up to speed to be thrown into the playoffs.  At minimum, Hoskins should have been getting at least semi regular at bats for just this reason.(even 2-3 starts a week would have been better than almost nothing)  No in game at bats doesn't make him to enticing for me personally.

Not his choice?  I beg to differ.

The Brewers are just his side gig now.  He isn't nearly as informative as he used to be.  You can tell he is just reading off his notes that have been handed to him by some producer or what not, and doesn't have the feel for the Brewers as a team like he used to.

He used to be great, now I'd rather not have him at all...

I also hate when we have top of the industry broadcasters calling our games.

There is no way the Cubs are feeling pretty good. Panicked? No, probably not, but they came in and got beaten soundly in Game 1.

This is beyond absurd

Was it not his choice to sign contracts that pull him off Brewers broadcasts?

BA is no longer a Brewer announcer, he's a guy who shows up occasionally to call Brewers games, nothing more.

I've even seen a Cubs fan thrown out of a game being played between the Brewers and Cardinals. That's how insufferable Cubs fans are.

He has stated that he is grateful for the Brewers giving him a big league gig, and he will keep calling games as long as the organization wants him to.

I like listening to Darling. He knows things.

He's not trying to be funny about what he ate for snacks, like Levering.

Darling is one of the best. I like having the Mets games on MLB TV.

Wonder if Yelich will be back in LF next game.  Jerry Augustine on radio said doesn't look good for Chourio being injury is in same leg and same spot as earlier in the year.

With the exception of the A-team NFL PBP guys, virtually all of the people calling national games have a day job with an individual team. Including the PBP for TBS in this series. With Anderson no longer doing the NBA, he’ll likely retain his reduced role in order to keep Levering around.
