So some more optimism to add coming from Brewers.com this morning.  With the 4-3 win over the Cardinals last night the Brewers have made it back to .500 as a member of the National League.   There was a line in the story that caught my eye though that made me laugh out loud.

The ‘98 Brewers lost the next game to the Reds, 17-0, and hadn’t sniffed .500 since.

This occurred after the Brewers had started 1998 57-57.  Look at that score.  omg.

Keep winning Brewers!

Truly phenomenal. If my math is right, they were 190 games under .500 in the National League after the first 10 seasons (714-904).

They are now just 167 games under .500 as a franchise (4461-4628), meaning that .500 overall is a reachable milestone within their current competitive window.

Joey and Cooper have looked increasingly better at SS and 3B over the past week or two. I would expect either to set the world on fire but very optimistic.

Lara just looked like a ball of energy, maybe like a better version of Nyjer Morgan.

91 games into the season and on pace to win 103...

When we got hot around this time last year I remember thinking “better enjoy it, this is a once-in-a-lifetime type team”.

Turns out I was wrong.

Lara’s plate discipline was the most impressive thing about his debut.  Dude had the plate presence of a 10 year vet.     Just before his first hit, the count was 2-1 and he looked at a sick curveball just below the zone for ball 3.  I think that pitch was all I needed to see from him to know he’s going to be something special.

I liked this line from ESPN's rankings (Brewers #2): "Milwaukee continues to win at an elite level while simultaneously getting younger. It's quite a trick."

I looked on Fangraphs and sure enough Joey has more DRS at 3rd base already compared to the entire season at SS. Pratt also has more DRS at SS already then Joey did. I can't fully explain that, but hard to argue with improving both offense and defense at the same time.

I still can’t believe that Lara scored on that Turang double………I mean the centerfielder cut it off well before the warning track and Lara was not running on the pitch………just amazing.
