Kind of funny how different opinions can be because I feel like Zerpa has been very underwhelming so far. I know the ERA looks fine but the 11% K-rate, stuff being down, and underlying numbers are quite scary. He had issues putting hitters away in KC and it's a reason why he never really pitched his way into a leverage role there.

Think there might be something to the WBC hangover. Zerpa was used as heavily there as any pitcher.

Guys just aren't used to having to go all out in that type of hyper competitive environment that early in the calendar.

Wonder if Turang's knocks and recent slump aren't related. Add in Chourio's injury....

Brewers are in first place and still the best team in the division. 💪

Honestly, that is debatable at this point...

Meh, I need to chill, this is just a 3 game losing streak, but our offense is offensive with that bottom half of the order.  I just don't see how we can piece wins together with the hitters we are throwing out there on the daily.

Padres have some sweet city connects.

Very nice.

I don't know what their new ones look like, but that trash they were wearing the last couple of years was just horrendous.  They looked like 7th grade girls softball uniforms...  Arguably, the worst uniforms to ever be worn on a MLB field.

I don't know about this. Rengifo and Matos are pretty much what you get at the bottom of the roster. Depth has basically been THE reason for the Crew's success. They do a great job of finding 23rd and 24th guys who do everything you want in that role, including putting up really tough ABs consistently.

Where we should be spending more is the middle of the roster, I think. When you lose two of your best sluggers, there's just nothing but David Eckstein-Hamilton types, and a lineup full of those is a struggle, even though I really like a lot of them individually.

The pitching will be alright. Enough youth and talent there to get this team far.

I would expect we'll see some high-ceiling young positional talent up here by mid-May. Never fun to go on a losing streak, but my biggest concern is the bullpen. Not a lot of trust there right now, with anyone. Might not be long before Yoho gets another look or Zerpa works his way into the ninth.

Grant Anderson is low key deserving of leverage innings with his start to the season. I'd probably take Megill out of leverage for now and have Anderson as your RHP to help bridge to Uribe, who has clearly earned the 9th inning at this point.

Ashby is really needed in the later innings. Really sucks we burned him for the weekend in a game we lost by 4.

Brutal decision. Completely nuts

So you think just because he wasn't traded there was no interest and no offer made? lmao💀

No interest doesn't mean no offer made, there are varying levels of interest no interest meaning you give a poor offer and see if the team bites.  If they don't then no loss.  If there were serious interest in Megill in the offseason a trade would have been made.

I am a little worried about our bargain bin approach to our offense.

I mean does any team in the MLB fear our 5-9 hitters?

I agree but what worries me more is Trevor Megill.  He hasn't been right since late August of last season.

If I were Murphy, I'd take Megill out of leverage for now (if he doesn't end up on the IL) and go with some combination of Uribe, Anderson, Ashby, and Zerpa in the later innings.

Of course, doesn't help that Ashby has basically been burned until Tuesday now.

You think Ashby is done until Tuesday??? Have you not been paying attention the past two years?

Hard to justify a lineup that has both Rengifo and Hamilton in it. Looks like the team will struggle to score runs until Chourio and Vaughn return.

Does it make you feel better or worse that David Hamilton is the third best position player on the roster this season? At least, in terms of bWAR. Source

So I saw that Murph ripped Rengifo for being out of position on Wiemers bunt………what I don’t get is why he didn’t put at least as much blame on the staff for not moving him in or communicating with him before the at bat where they wanted him positioned?

I mean they move fielders around all the time…….they saw where he was standing.

Anyway…….terrible game……it’s a long season…….there will be more.

Giving up 4 runs in an inning and only throwing 16 total pitches is really impressive.

Unfairly, it seems the entire arch of Megill’s career shifted on his nine pitches last night 🙂
