What makes you think Lara will sit?  Mitchell is lost at the plate and badly needs a day or two off.  That being said if Lara continues to selfishly waste pitch reviews on balls clearly in the zone, he could use some time off.

Yeah, Lara needs a reset. You can tell from his body language that he’s frustrated.  We worried about his playing time, but I think he’s had to play too much in Frelick’s absence. Something like two days on, one day off would be ideal. Take some swings, have some issues, then watch and learn.

He hit balls that didn’t move much.  He is still getting accustomed to recognizing MLB breaking balls.  Many times, he looks really lost.

Any chance they simply option Frelick to AAA?

They’ve got a lot of money invested in Lara and should play him every day. Lockridge > Frelick as 4th OFer/bench bat.

Then again, the fans love Frelick’s hustle as he busts it down the line on a 6-3 groundout….

Rehab assignments can last 30 days, past the 9/1 roster expansion date, so my guess is he goes on rehab assignment until 9/1 and becomes the position player callup.

Not sure why people are so quick to dismiss a guy who was a 114 wRC+ last year as a healthy 25 year old, not to mention a gold glove winner.

It’s a what have you don’t for me lately league. Sal is  nearly 250 games removed from the gold glove. His last 900 PAs he’s been slightly below league average hitter. He’s just a guy, and certainly doesn’t deserve to take playing time from Lara

Yeah. He's been really bad this year, but he was good last year as a 24 year old. Great defense to pair with a .756 OPS. Maybe this injury really has been messing him up.

I'm not a huge Frelick fan and if I had to bet either way, I'd say his tenure in the MLB doesn't last more than a few more years. But it's way too early to give up on him.

Am I the only one that is really confused at what the Brewers are doing with Sal? He's on a rehab assignment in AAA but it sounds like he can't play defense yet and is only DH'ing.

They should probably option him to AAA anyways so it doesn’t really bother me.

If he can’t play in the OF keep him in Nashville.

Regardless even if he returns to full health, Bauers plays RF 50% of the time. It doesn’t make sense to take PT from Lara. Who is better suited as a 5th OFer Lockridge or Frelick. I’d probably go with a Lockridge as he’s always been a bench player.

Lockridge is a faster pinch runner. Realistically, that is the role. Bauers is going to play OF against lefties, along with Lara and Chourio. Against righties, Chourio, Mitchell, Lara - and I’d place Vaughn at 1B (assuming health and 3B is over for him) and Bauers in the OF before I’d play Frelick. Sal is better than Lockridge, but not for the role that is available.

The big question with Frelick is whether his injury was impeding him and whether he’s over it now. Okay, that’s two questions. If we get 2025 Sal Frelick back, that’s a better baseball player than 2026 Luis Lara. BTW, I don’t mean to rag on Lara; I love him. It’s more that I think Frelick’s situation has some nuance to it, and setting up Lara for success is also complicated.

I don’t think  his pull for power approach yielding more ground balls this year than last was a byproduct of a shoulder injury.

Rather, he is just a little guy with minimal raw power, and the league adjusted to his pull for power approach by challenging him this year with more hard stuff and he’s topping the ball tryjng to get the barrel out earlier.
