Wed. 4/15: Early Matinee Action for Shuckers and Rattlers (twice for Wisconsin)

Posted

..........And Luis Lara doubles, his third hit of the game. He's now hitting .414. He's starting to remind me of when Sal Frelick was hitting four-something at AAA & the speculation was starting to heat up regarding him. It has to be tempered due to the earliness of the season & the tender age, but geez...........

This season

On the bright side, he's doing tons of damage despite being unlucky. But the amount of whiffs so far is a little too much for my liking🫥

Will Childers is an interesting story.

Drafted out of high school late. Went to college instead. Arm injuries. Undrafted. Brewers UDFA signing. Unspectacular store window numbers throughout the minors.

Now closing for the AAA squad and has a chance. Looks like his fastball sits 96-97. Slider, Cutter, Change.

Ebel has gotten off to a slow start in his pro career. Between this year and last he's slashing .172/.297/.183 in 111 PA. Only one extra base hit.

Add Fitzpatrick to a possible call up

I absolutely did not have 3 G, 6.0 IP, 0 H, 2 BB, 10 K, and 0 R as the start to One LHP Anferrny Reyes' season.

To put this in perspective, this K output outperforms his strikeout totals in three of his FULL months of action last year at Carolina. Surreal start to his season.

I see you, young man. 👀

Has a 50 Whiff% in small sample size so far. That's interesting.

Did you know his full name is Matthew WILKIE Childers and he goes by WILL? Discovered that tonight lol

Pena is not long for Appleton but O'Rae has every right to his spot currently in Biloxi.

I just said this in another thread but our outfield prospect list is just about dry after Lara in the upper levels. Pena might force O'Rae out into LF and if I were O'Rae I would welcome it. There is a path there to big league at bats in Milwaukee... I'm not sure that is true at 2b for him?

I'd want Pena in CF. Pena has 70 speed, a good arm...seems a waste in LF. Plus, Chourio, Frelick, Lara... we kinda have our OFers set. Jett, maybe Fischer or Adams could factor in, Black, but... at least have him splits reps in CF with Payne to start... IMO.

........And some real nice versatility with the guys you mentioned, too.

Pena as a CF is an intriguing idea.
