Guess you can't win them all. Tough to see a fangless offense display.

Despite the overall record, getting little to no offense from RF and 3B needs to change. Frelick posting WAR/OPS+ rankings of -0.3 / 70 and Rengifo posting -0.5 / 51 going into tonight's game is pointing to replacement time.

When you give Blake Perkins a crucial at-bat in a 1-0 game in the 8th inning you deserve to lose 1-0.

At least Vaughn hit the ball sharply in the ninth taking a shot at right field. He advanced the runner and could just as easily have found a hole.

If you’re going to rag on Vaughn’ for how he looked tonight you should be ragging on just about the whole lineup, including Contreras who has done virtually nothing for a week.

He didn’t hit anything sharply today. He looked like a 9 hole hitter trying to advance the runner with a ground ball to the right side.

Didn't look any worse than anyone else.

And he is best used as a 5 or 6 hitter. Not a 2 hitter.

I assume Murphy had Vaughn batting second because he was essentially replacing Chourio and he didn’t want to shuffle around the rest of the batting order.

Ideally, Vaughn would be batting 6th behind Bauers.

Hopefully the fans clamoring for Vaughn to play against RHP will quiet down after tonight. Just looked totally out of place at the top of the lineup tonight.

Hitting 2nd is on the manager. Hitting 2nd against a top15 righty is crazy.

Nice job by Gasser and Patrick, not much else positive about this one. Hopefully Gasser can build on this and hold onto a starting spot until some guys come back.

So, you believe Pat Murphy makes all the roster decisions & Perkins is on the team for the rest of the season? Got it. We'll see.

BTW, he's been optioned to AAA this year not once, but twice.

You can spin it however you like. Murphy is the one who refers to him as like a son. I haven't heard Arnold say that. True talk it doesn't matter if he's his actual son. He doesn't belong on this team period point blank.

Glad Murph's kid is at the press conference, just sitting there with such an important role.

I fear Contreras is going to get worn down because once again we don't have a backup who is playable. Have Haase walk over to the clubhouse from across the hall and release Sanchez.

Murphy defending his decision to hit Sanchez and also said he put Perkins in to bunt. That 8th inning was honestly one of the worst managed innings he’s ever had.

Why? He wasn't the problem tonight

Tonight's game isn't the best one to use as an example of why Vaughn shouldn't hit against righties.

No one looked good at the plate tonight, including all the lefties.

It really is a heat shield whenever he has a night like tonight when he blows a few moves.

Obviously a terrible effort on the bunt attempt. OTOH, for those looking to put all the blame on Perkins, the popped up bunt made no difference in the inning unless you think Rengifo is more aggressive at the plate & attacks. Although he really didn't get much of a chance to do so, and with 1B open it's even less likely.

I think Ortiz vs Sanchez is a horse apiece, to be honest.

My main issue strategy-wise is after the Turang hit w/one out, it took three pitches for the next two hitters to be retired. You probably needed to have Turang running with Contreras trying to shoot the hole behind him, or definitely send him in the Bauers AB. Also, you could've had Mitchell stay in for the bunt, but saying that now stinks of hindsight & there's way too much of that here after a loss.

Gasser reminded me a little of his first five starts in the bigs. If this continues, you may have lost the battle today but won the war.

Joey Ortiz has a .193 batting average.  If given the opportunity, my batting average would be closer to Blake Perkins than Perkins is to Oritz.

He was 0-4 with weak contact galore. He's not close to as good against RHP as he is against LHP right now.

Thank god you weren’t coaching against the cubs last year in game 5

Weak contact you could say that about everyone. They didn't even have a hit till the 7th. I get your point but tonight is not the night.

Last year in Game 5 he wasn't dealing with a hammate injury sapping him of his bat speed

Vaughn wasn’t coming off a broken hamate bone with regressed bat speed in that moment. He’s looked significantly worse against RHP this year than he did last year.

As compared to whom did he have weak contact? His grounder to the right side in the 9th was the 5th hardest hit ball the Brewers had all night.

Based on tonight you should be calling for Contreras to be benched because he was 0 for 4 with even weaker contact galore.

No spin.

I've heard Murphy refer to many players in an affectionate way since he's been here. Does he show more affinity for someone who's struggling? Sure. There are 29 other managers in MLB who do the same thing. And like I said, if he's a 'loving daddy' he's a pretty piss-poor one since Perkins has been optioned twice.

And when does Arnold even comment about his personal feelings regarding players?

Perkins has been terrible, no doubt. Given the injury timeline (Lockridge), 40-man considerations (Lara), and defensive maneuvering/depth considerations, not to mention an OF on the roster who apparently can't be put in the OF, who in your opinion should be here instead of him? You might not believe this, but I was just as frustrated by the bunt attempt as you were. But take a little time to look at all the considerations & realize it's a little more complicated than 😫😫😫😫 HE SUCKS!!!! GET RID OF HIM!!!!😫😫😫

Of the Brewers 7 hardest hit balls today, Vaughn had two of them.
