That is probably the worst “quality start” I have ever seen. I cannot think of worse.

He got 18 outs for us. That matters. He also made two really nice pickoffs. I have to give him those things.

He is far more accurate throwing to first base than to home plate

It is very strange the amount of gymnastics that are done anytime you bring question Murphy here. It's like instead of manager of the year awards he has world series rings.

Im a fan of Murphy, but no one is perfect.  He seems to have a soft spot for Yelich that really isn't earned by current performance.

Edit: Ill add that Ive seen Vaughn pinch hit for if they bring in a righty, and Bauers pinch hit for if they bring in a lefty, but I can't recall Yelich ever getting pinch hit for.

There's definitely worse because quality start only counts ER. You could go 6 IP, 8 R, 3 ER and have it be a quality start.

It’s not just the stats. There was a bullet hit to Turang that ended up being a line drive double play.

A cutter right down the middle with men on was taken right to the warning track which would have been a couple more runs.

The command was all over. It was just not really an effective performance in any way. I guess it just doesn’t really matter if we score 0 today.

For the last 7 years we’ve been holding our breath to avoid a Yeli IL stint. Now, it seems like that’s the best case scenario as he’s not leaving the lead off spot without one.

I get it, but you’re a manager at the highest level of this game.

You have to be able to separate your personal feelings from your professional obligations.

More like Murphy has a SOFTHEADED spot for Yelich.

By the way Lara is a switch hitter so this makes zero difference. Bench Bauers in that case. I understand you want to argue with me but just think it through.

When is Lara going to hit as a righty against a RHP?

Maybe you want to think it through...

What's Lara's baseball IQ? I mean I only played until senior year but I've seen him do a decent amount of things the opposite of what I was taught to do.

He played scared.   Pitcher jumped and he was more worried about avoiding hij than making a play, that was soft. For example, Sal is running through the base on that and getting there.

Lara wasn’t dogging it or not hustling, it’s  just another play where his instincts told him to do something other than what he should have done.

Like the defensive miscues, these are things he will need to remember and learn from.

Murphy is crazy for not having him in the lineup tonight. Clearly, that's the reason we're not scoring.

However you get there, giving up three runs is an effective start

There is no law that says he can't if the splits are that big a deal. Its happened plenty. Glad you woke up. It's going great tonight isn't it?
