Just saw this stat on X - Chourio-Contreras-Yelich is batting a combined .207 with just 4 HR and 27 RBI's over the past 30 days. The fact that we're 26 games above .500 is incredible.

Yep.  It’s getting ridiculous.    They are not doing their jobs.  Like at all.   If they don’t show up soon we will be looking at a wild card appearance which to me would be rather disappointing

Brandon Lockridge had a couple of better days swinging the bat in Nashville & I believe sat yesterday. I wonder if his replacing Perkins is imminent, or maybe they're just waiting to see what the roster looks like after the deadline?

The Cubs are hosting the Yankees this weekend and they seem to be getting another break. Just like they missed Skubal when they faced the Tigers (and still lost two out of three) they will now miss Schlitter this weekend while the Yankees are without Judge and Bellinger  

Rooting for the Yankees is almost as distasteful as rooting for the Cardinals, but I’ll be doing it anyway.

Contreras has 1 HR and 7 RBI in July (3 of those 7 RBI came in that one HR). He has a 38 wRC+ and has been worth -0.3 fWAR this month.

The fact the Brewers have managed to go 15-10 so far in July when three guys who are always in the top 4 of your order have been so bad this month is a testament to how good the other parts of the lineup have been (and of course the pitching).

Ortiz - 152 wRC+

Pratt - 144 wRC+

Turang - 142 wRC+

Mitchell - 142 wrC+

Hamilton - 131 wRC+

Lara - 130 wRC+

Bauers - 119 wRC+

Sanchez - 107 wRC+

Vaughn - 103 RC+

The only other player this month to have a wRC+ below 100 was Frelick who was at -1 before he went on the IL

I didn't either, but listened to the game in the background while reading and waiting out a rainy day. Not a lot of wind talk from Pat and Ron that I picked up, and the Yankees 2 runs were both solo homers. I'm sure it was a factor, but it didn't seem like a clear bad offensive day kind of environment. 

Start of a big stretch tonight. Given the deadline, 17 games in a row, two west coast trips, and a good bit of decent competition, we'll know a lot more by the next off day. If the Brewers close this stretch still up 5-7 games, you'd feel great about that, especially if they get some improving health and maybe add an arm or two. 

I'm also keeping an eye on Atlanta. In some ways, their scores matter more than the Cubs, given that, if they catch us, winning the division doesn't matter all that much.

June 30 -> July 31

Division winning odds (Fangraphs): 83% -> 86%
Division lead: 5.5 games -> 6.0 games (hopefully 6.5 after tonight)
Playoff odds: 98% -> 99.8%
First round bye odds: 57% -> 65%

And that's in a stretch where the Cubs have had a ton of good fortune. Cubs have outperformed their xwOBA offensively by 41 points. The next highest overperformance was 32 points. They also overperformed their xERA by 1.01 runs. The next highest overperformance was by 0.85 runs. So basically Cubs have played way over their underlying numbers this month and will have either gained no ground or lost a game in the standings against us.
