They didn't get Emmet. Bowden was stealing from someone else who got it wrong.

I'm breathing a sigh of relief the Brewers didn't give up that equivalent.

Yeah Passan says he’s not

Equivalent from the Brewers would probably be Adamczewski/Fischer, Hardin and Burke.

Yikes that is a lot of prospect capital to give up for about 10-15 starts of Skubal.

Now, how would that package compare to, say, Rob Bryson, Zach Jackson, Matt LaPorta and Michael Brantley I wonder. Oh well good for LA maybe if they can get a couple more players they can feel like they have a shot at winning enough games

I'd say Jett/Adamczewski/Fischer, Sproat, and Adams/Burke/Quero. I would have done it.

If it were just Jett, Sproat and Quero/Adams sure but that wouldn't have beat the Dodgers offer.  Even the equivalent that I posted probably doesn't get close to the value the Dodgers gave up.

There is 0 chance we see baseball in 2027.

That sucks, but it needs to happen for MLB to be an actual professional sports league where more than 1 team can go out and acquire the premier trade piece every deadline on top of paying arguably the best player ever $2M and deferring $68M, while two other starters making close to $100m combined annually bide their time to rejoin the squad in August rested and ready for another WS run.

What would be comparable Brewers package?

Obviously not an exact science, and would vary a lot between what source you go on. And what really matters is how the teams view these guys; presumably they liked these guys better than the consensus, and the guys in the alternative packages less.

The Athletic (Keith Law): Hope 26th, Ryan 41st. He has Luis Peña 21st and Alexander Frias 69th. So those two + a better third piece.

Pipeline: Hope 25th, Ryan 68th,  Brady Smith 17th in Dodgers sytem.      Brewers: Peña 18th, Lara 64th. Blake Burke is 17th, Ethan Dorchies is the closest pitcher at 19th.

Fangraphs: Ryan 22nd, Hope 57th, Brady Smith 23rd in system with 40+ FV. Luis Peña is 26th, with Frias 43rd and Brady Ebel 63rd. Brewers lowest 40+ are Strosnider and Trey Ebel. 40+ Pitchers are Dubanewicz, Thompson, Wichrowski.

Can't be bothered to check more sources at this time, but roughly speaking it would be Peña, whoever you think the Brewers 3rd best prospect is (Lara, Frias), and whoever you have as the Brewers 4th best pitching prospect after Hardin/Letson/Knoth.

Heck no.  That would have been a dumb trade.  If Skubal had one or two more years remaining sure give up someone like Pena.  But not for a rental.

Whatever. Fine. Now go get a guy that will be way cheaper. Don't have to deal with the BS anymore of LA jacking up the price.

Arnold will only make a trade to get the sixth string bat boy so the Brewers will have a backup to a backup.

I have zero confidence that there’s going to be some type of a needle mover trade.

This feels like many are undervaluing, not overvaluing Brewers prospects - including Brewers fans.

The potential "comp" package scenarios people are throwing out there online all blow what the Dodgers actually had to give up out of the water
