Sounds easy on paper, but there is a reason three team trades rarely happen. Hard enough to find an agreement of value between you and another team. Now you are talking finding a pitcher the Dodgers want that matches the value of the player you want. Then going to that team to then agree your value is worth their pitcher to then turn around to send the Dodgers.

It's funny because they set up the whole narrative the week ahead of the deadline. Basically that if the Dodgers get Skubal and ruin everyone's good time, it's the Brewers fault.

Fangraphs has Ryan top 25, MLB pipeline top 75. If these are close to accurate, the list of possibilities is short, especially when you eliminate the guys who would definitely require Made (Anderson, Sloan, Hernandez, possibly White), guys whose organization needs pitching a lot more than hitting (Susana, Sykora, Eyanson post-trade), and the other Dodger (Zazueta).

and the Tigers demanded Henderson, which is in a different league than what the Dodgers gave up. Im saying a team with a young, controllable arm more proven than Ryan with maybe a lower ceiling could have been part of a 3-team deal and that would open it up.

Who said the Tigers wanted a lower ceiling player?

According to McCalvy the Brewers offered a hitter heavy offer for Skubal but the Tigers turned it down.  Pena was in this offer.  The other two pieces are not known but speculation is that Adamczewski would have also been included.  McCalvy also stated the third may have been in or just outside of the top 100 so I am going to assume that was Frias or Ragsdale.  

I think the Tigers messed up here and took the wrong offer.  Yes pitching is nice but I don’t understand how you can reject the Brewers offer if it was Pena, Adamczewski and Frias/Ragsdale.  That is like a Herschel Walker trade.

This was discussed earlier this morning, but I think it gives credence to the idea that the Tigers were never sending him anywhere but LA.

I'm saying i dont think they need a very high ceiling pitcher to beat the Dodgers package, if one of the pitcher has some proven MLB success. I think someone could have forked over a decent young arm or two in exchange for Pena/Adamczewski/Payner or whatever it was

My 8 year old son was suspicious of the Tigers motivations. He told me to find out where their boss was from. 

Looks like Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris is from California and went to school at UCLA. Coincidence??? Or not???
