Where are the Brewers?

Catcher Bo Naylor and right-hander Codi Heuer can’t be it for the team with the best record in the National League. After striking out on Tarik Skubal, the Brewers need a playoff-caliber starter (the Mets’ Clay Holmes?) as well as a power hitter, preferably at shortstop or third base. Sitting on perhaps the game’s best farm system, it would be inexcusable for the Brewers to settle for a series of piecemeal additions.

It would be equal to 2022 selling Hader. Getting nothing would  be  toxic. I like the Seattle deal I listed….would be tough for a below .500 team to pass up. And almost perfect for us.

I mean do you want to improve the team or do you not Matt? Yet somehow other teams never have a problem finding guys they want to trade for and get deals done. Arnold strikes me as the type of GM that makes an offer and that's it. No negotiating no nothing. They either accept his terms or they don't, but he won't "negotiate". That's just my opinion

I haven’t see any crazy overinflated deals tbh, also think plenty of time is left on the shot clock for Arnold and Co. to land some good pieces.

Remember, according to him he had "several" lines in the water and he "thought things were moving". Wellllllllll Matt, we're waiting. 

The prices are the prices. It's like putting gas in your car. You gotta pay it if you want to be able to drive.

The Hader trade in 2022 sigh.   The Brewers were in first place when that happened, and they went on to miss the playoffs altogether.

Screw Rosenthal - he is just stirring the pot.   i've lost alot of respect for hime ever since that water cooler incident with the team photographer. 

A different thought occurred to me this morning in that the Brewers may be content to continue sitting on the game's best farm system because of all the CBA uncertainty for next year and beyond.  They may view having as much young talent as possible stockpiled is the best way to come out the other side of things when baseball resumes.  I do think at least one starter, one quality reliever, and maybe one bat will be headed this way before the deadline - but it wont be by sending any of their best prospects away based on how this deadline has unfolded so far.

 

After this season, I'd be perfectly content if it takes 1 or two years to get the new CBA right, and then see the Dodgers' expensive, veteran-laden roster all 2 years older when mlb play resumes

I think it was Rosenthal who actually described it as a bit of a buyers market at this time as most teams are unwilling to part with top prospects with lockout looming.

I get that we build our good teams by being patient and not going "all in" but if we have the best record in baseball at the trade deadline as well as the best and deepest farm system in baseball, we deserve to get beat by the Cubs if they go out and make multiple moves to improve their team. There are no excuses to do NOTHING and I'm not gonna judge them until its over, but if they sit on their hands it is inexcusable.

I think you've beaten the dead horse enough by now. 

Other than Skubal there haven't been any other true needle moving deals made. 

As I've said, I'll be peeved if we do nothing today, but I highly doubt we're going to stand pat.

Seriously though, they MIGHT do something, but why on earth are they always so slow about it on deadline day? I can think of NUMEROUS trades they have made that have literally been right at or slightly before the buzzer. Like I don't get it, it's not like they just threw a trade together last minute. These things are talked about well in advance, and no other teams make as many trades right at the deadline(literally) then the Brewers do. What's the hang up? You know long before that if it's accepted or not. Or you should.

It is very possible that the Brewers have deals on the table, and are going through the channels as far as notifying players and running medical checks. They run a very tight ship, and don't let leaks get out like other teams do.

I'm going to repeat this since it obviously didn't register the first time but I can assure you that this new guy is not me. For one thing I don't miss Doug Melvin one bit and am a big fan of Arnold and his team of front office executives.

For those wondering why I don't post anymore its pretty much established that the same two or three guys have no respect for anyone with different thoughts and I tired of being constantly attacked. Still I can assure you that I am not nor will I post under a different username.

Honestly, I didn't feel like you'd make a burner. Only way you'd get a new screen name is if banned I'd guess. Far as I know you've done nothing to earn that.

I'm with WillBill24, as someone who remembers a lot of dark years for the Crew, it's pretty hard to seriously question the front office given their recent performance.  Hindsight will always give a clear view, but if no deals come, I'll assume it's because the bid/ask was too great.  Don't get me wrong, I'd love an impact bat and another quality SP, but given that this team is already performing beyond my expectations, I'm not going to complain.
