MLB.com is now adding betting odds directly to the game preview page. Gross.

MLB.com must have started that today, anything to increase revenue.

Minus Ortiz, those guys could keep hitting well…and certainly some potential in the struggling hitter list.

Not good, but some reason to be optimistic.

I’m so glad Brandon Sproat is NOT pitching tonight!

I’m also glad that Kuhnel is unlikely to return to the 26-man roster after the trade deadline acquisitions.

Sproat was humble & distraught following last night’s game. I feel for him, but I hope he is moved to AAA for the remainder of the 2026 season. Maybe he turns it around like Burnes after a disastrous 2019 season. I’m not hopeful, but I’d love to be wrong / surprised by a 2027 & beyond breakout.

old friend called up for MLB debut with Giants

I believe he could have produced for us too - maybe in place of Yelich. Hope he does well.

i didn't get why they traded for the Houston guy to fill in for a bit rather than call him up.  Was a weird dfa, but probably some discussion with his agent on letting him go where he has more of a chance

gonna be tough to swallow if Leonard is mashing big league pitching while our DH continues to flounder

We already saw how quickly Rengifro turned his bat around elsewhere. starting to really doubt our hitting instruction.

Yep, they weren't there yesterday.

I'm thankful this is about the only corner of the sports world left where we can avoid it.

Yet Ortiz continues to get benched for Bunty McBunterson.

Ortiz and Pratt should be playing every day, with an occasional day off, like most big leaguers...

We can't afford to bench guys who are actually hitting since we know our MGR won't bench his boy crushes Yelich and Hamilton.

A scant 45 days ago, people were getting frustrated with Ortiz because he was playing.  Things change.

Now like you, I'm frustrated that Ortiz is not playing every day.  Remember, there were a bunch of hitters with the Cubs who couldn't hit their way out of a web paper bag.  Now, they are mashing...

First time writer, long-time reader. Hopefully my comments won't be as annoying as my screen name. In regard to Yelich, the guy is absolutely lost at the plate right now, and by now I mean most of the season. I truly like the guy and understand he is a clubhouse leader, but leaders become less effective when they stop producing. Any chance of an IL stint for a back spasm? Get Lara some more playing time? Is a callup of someone like Adams (I know he would be a 40 man add) to see if his power can translate a possibility in that spot?

My point is, you can't bench guys who are actually hitting/producing for guys who are not.

Doesn't matter what Ortiz was doing in June, fact is, he's been mashing the last month (dare I say, he has been our best hitter during that time), Hamilton comes off the IL, and suddenly Ortiz is an afterthought.  He didn't go into a slump, he simply isn't playing daily because Bunty comes off the IL, and had done nothing previously to dethrone Ortiz.

Murphy Murphing people needs to stop.

We all know that Yelp’s days of “mashing” the ball are behind him … well, everyone except for Murphy

He’d make a great coach … maybe he could be DFA’s in the offseason with an invite to serve as a coach on Murph’s bench (THIS SHOULD PROBABLY BE IN BLUE BUT I’M ONLY HALF-JOKING)

I don't write Yelich off entirely, but he needs a break. He is one year removed from his best and healthiest season in 6 years. I think the hard part is that this team is sooo short on power. When right, Yelich can at least provide some pop. Nobody we play more in Yelich's stead can really do that.

Murphy is a great manager in many ways, but he is not without faults, and one of them absolutely is a bit of an ego.

He is on the record this year both about how important David Hamilton will be to this team and how important it is to get Christian Yelich going.

He really does not like to be wrong. But you can’t force yourself to be right when it doesn’t fit the reality.

“Where would you want me to hit him, seventh?” he said. “No, it makes it worse. You can’t take the ‘C’ off his uniform, you know what I mean? You don’t do that. You believe in him more. You show him love. Give him direction and believe he’s on it.”

Man really backed himself into a corner with this quote.

Great callback. And I would say, yes, 7th... if at all. Clearly, he is not getting through this on his own... he is just spiraling. Time off, work with the coaches, sit down and watch every home run of your 2018 season to remember who you are, and come back ready to contribute.
