To be fair, he was terrible. It wasn't controversial to be looking for someone else at SS or 3B. I don't think anyone's complaining about his resurgence.

Yeah, I don't think there was a single "critic" on this board who wasn't thinking that Joey was an absolute mess offensively.

If anyone says they were fine with Joey's offense the last year and a half before he put it back together, they are lying their butt off!

He was struggling at the plate for sure, but the offensive bar is set so low to be passable at SS with good defense he was never the biggest problem.

Frelick and his .630 OPS in RF was a bigger black hole.

If Wild Bill and Yelich could have the same type of resurgence as Ortiz we'd only be able to complain about Murphy's managing.

He earned himself a longer leash with his glove and it paid off.

Gotta love Murphy. Going an getting him mid-count after Hook was just out there telling Gasser to start throwing strikes

Offense gave Gasser a 6-run spot in the 1st inning and this happens.   Glad Murphy pulled him mid-count.  Gasser's pitch count may have prevented him from even coming out for 5th inning assuming he got out of this.

I’m not sure that there’s a very good argument for Gasser being the 6th pitcher in the rotation over Patrick.

Other than that's the way Patrick prefers it.

He put a positive spin on being moved to a reliever role. He’s never outright asked not to start.

He literally said that he prefers not knowing when he's coming in because he would get so worked up before a start that he would get sick.

Seattle going to burn some arms leading into the Cubs series. Hopefully none of their 'good' ones.

The Cubs won’t be facing Gilbert one way or the other.

I’m more concerned about the Brewers wearing out their pictchers  for the Braves series. Not expecting many runs against Sale tomorrow.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Would make sense to option Gasser to AAA after the game and bring up a fresh arm for the bullpen.  Can have Crow take his next start, he’s been great over the last month.

My goodness, no he did not. This is an embellishment. This is how misinformation gets spread. And we so often on here just take a narrative and run with it.

Yes, he is known for getting sick. Yes, he made a casual quote when he was moved to the pen about being able to feel more relaxed, That was it. He never said he couldn’t start and would “get so worked up before a start that I’d make myself sick.” He never made any such quote as it relates to his pitching role.

If he did,, post the link and the quote and I’d be happy to stand corrected like I do any time I make a mistake. Otherwise, this is inaccurate. The man had an ERA under 3 as a starter and we are acting like he was such a mess that he can’t start. He can. No, I am not saying he should take Gasser’s next start, but I am saying if fully ramped up, yes, I believe he’d be a better starter than Gasser.
