21-year old LHP Wande Torres has been quite the second half pitcher (2.60 ERA with 68 Ks in last 55.1 IP) for High-A Wisconsin, who look to take a 2-1 home series lead over South Bend. CF Sawyer Strosnider (.327 AVG, .936 OPS in 60 PAs) is looking like the real deal.

RHP Coleman Crow brings his 18.2-inning scoreless streak to Jacksonville, as AAA Nashville aim for a 2-1 series lead. LF Tyler Black has an .884 OPS over his last 83 PAs.

AA Biloxi beat Knoxville yesterday at home to even this week’s series and send 21-year old RHP Bishop Letson (5.38 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, 8.7 K/9 in 78.2 IP) out into battle tonight. 3B Luis Pena has a 9-game hitting streak.

Crow has 8 K through 4 1/3 IP. AND, he has also surrendered 10 H, a HR, and 6 ER. I wonder aloud if he is working on some specific things.

If Fischer turns out to be an Adam Dunn type of player (lots of K’s but also lots of HRs), I think I’d be happy enough about that.

I would have to look but it seems like Bitonti has had a very consistent season. Is that a bad take? Maybe a sluggish start through the cold and rain outs .... but I feel like he has hit and slugged every month more or less since then ... hasn't had too many bad spells.

At the game and it did not feel that way.  There was an awful lot of hard contact.  It was kind of a weird game.  On another note, Luke Adams has to be just about the coolest dude ono the planet.

Well things line up similar enough already. Dunn's career line actually looks a lot closer to a normal stat line these days. The slash line for Dunn and Alonso for example is pretty close. More walks for Dunn and more SLG for Alonso

It's one minor league season...but Fischer's walk rate of 17% would put him in the top 5 of qualified MLBers this year.  He strikes out alot, but also walks alot and 42 HRs in a minor league season is really hard to minimize.

i wasn't downplaying fischer's walk rate, I was just saying Dunn was more than just home runs and strikeouts.

understood...I think Fischer is, too - and even if he won't become a gold glover, defensively he's decent enough to play 3rd or 1B with that kind of pop everyday, assuming the everyday DH spot isn't available as soon as Fischer gets called up.

I expect him to open next season in AAA, and assuming MLB gets its act together and there isn't a strike/lockout in 2027, Fischer will be in Milwaukee before the AS break.
