It’s clear that kyle Harrison isn’t right since the forearm strain. Why aren’t they putting him on the IL now so they can give him 2 weeks rest and then still get him 2 starts to tune up before seasons end?

Coleman crow would make sense to call up, he keeps you competitive in his starts and you still get a 6 man rotation. If you are the brewers, you have the division by 9 games right now, I think you need to start looking ahead.

Well a couple things. First, the division itself isn’t necessarily as important as being a top 2 division winner as that number 3 still plays a Wild Card round round and we need to avoid that. So while we’re 9 up on the Cubs, we’re only 4.5 up on the 3 seed. Solid, but not locked in yet where we can coast.

Secondly, I’m not sure he’s injured. Could be a whole host of other things, mechanics messed up, tipping his pitches, probably a host of other things. I do think Harrison’s massive home/away splits are a pretty good indicator that he had some tells on his pitches, at times, that are more easily relayed on the road.

I'm not necessarily against the idea, but he had plenty of time off and came back worse so another 15 days isn’t going to guarantee anything. We need to figure out what’s wrong with him,

Hopefully Harrison is being honest and he isn't injured. If he isn't injured I agree just sending him to the IL doesn't fix anything, he and the team need to figure it out before the playoffs.

It’s been near 100 and humid this week here in Chicago, and I believe both Misiorowski and Harrison mentioned the humidity and sweat affecting their grip on the ball. Second, they’re coming down the stretch and are tired. The playoff formula now makes teams jockey for position until the final weekend. If there was a five game series waiting for them in the post season by virtue of winning their division, the Brewers would likely throw some bullpen games and otherwise try to rest Miz, Harrison etc

I do think we should be doing everything we can to make sure Harrison starts at home in the playoffs. His splits are wild enough that we should make sure he is in a controlled and 'positive' environment. Henderson has more than earned the #2 spot behind Miz .. but it we get a 5 game series tomorrow I'd prefer we go Miz, Harrison, Henderson, etc

If that means 10 days on the IL now so we can tinker with his mechanics and figure it out while also slotting him back into the rotation with the above in mind ... great.

15 days for pitchers, which makes it a decision they have to make quickly

I think Miz needs to pitch at home as much as possible too. Mounds have become such an issue for him that I think visiting teams will look at any way they can to exploit that.

So

1) HFA is going to be very important for us, and

2) Henderson and the bullpen need to be our road warriors,

Is Henderson Hawk or Animal then?

Per the Sounds probable starting pitchers for the rest of this week, it looks as if Colton Gordon is either getting skipped, piggybacking someone, moved to the pen or maybe getting the call up??? Wonder if that would be the move for Harrison for a start.

He’s not going to the IL……scheduled to start in Cincy

I mentioned the other day that if he starts this weekend, looking at the off-days coming up he can then start once a week afterwards (assuming they stay w/the 6-man). That should give them enough time to work out kinks in the delivery, possible pitch-tipping etc while still giving him a comparative breather. He could even be piggybacked if that would be advantageous, now that you have 14 pitchers,

So, no IL for my money unless he's actually hurt.

Given Harrison's home/away splits, there might've been a case for starting Gasser on Sunday and let Harrison go on Monday at home against the Cubs. Looks like Gasser/Miz/Henderson for the Cubs next week.

I think I would have been interested in getting Harrison some time with the pitching lab in AZ. Maybe that can be accomplished without an IL stint or a send-down. Just go 5-man rotation for a turn, and let him skip one start.
