Time to put Harrison in mothballs for this year, get him in the lab this offseason, and start fresh next spring. Obviously the arm talent is there, but the mentals are a mess right now.

I’ll say this too.  When they show his early season side by sides, he looks fatter now.  They showed it on a split screen a couple starts ago while talking about his delivery and I noticed it and my wife said, "can't see the difference in throwing, but he looks fatter."    It might be nothing, but like you said, theres a fine line in pro sports.  They might want to look into his in season conditioning.

Disagree with this. Mainly because many wanted Corbin dealt when he struggled immensely during his first extended stint in the majors. You don't give up on young pitchers with TOR-type stuff. Especially for pennies on the dollar.

Yep. I've learned to trust the organization. If they decide to keep Sproat, I'm sure they know what they have.

Something is wrong with Harrison.   Since he got hurt months ago, he has not been the same pitcher.   It is very depressing.

Who was saying this about Burnes? Maybe on Twitter/X. I don’t think trading Burnes for pennies on the dollar was the consensus here. I think most knew it was still there for Burnes - he showed it in 2018.

I will say, there’s a lot more Johnny Hellwegs than Corbin Burnes’ out there and we throw around the name of Burnes a little too often when talking about Sproat, That’s an unlikely outlier of an outcome. If he could even develop into a reliable middle of the rotation guy, I’d be happy with that.

We've got 9 meaningless games before it's for all the marbles.  Maybe give him one more shot?

The idea of shutting Harrison down and optioning him/replacing him with another arm is to try to save innings on the arms of the relievers for the remainder of the regular season. These blowups have cost some innings, when we need to save some for the playoffs. Each little bit adds up in October.

I gotta say that as we trot out yet another pitcher, I’d have considered just letting Harrison suck it up for 4-5 innings. Give up 30 runs. Who cares. Burning out the bullpen for this is just so shortsighted.

Today was a punt game to see if Harrison has any remaining value in 2026. He doesn't.

Well, still some time to get the offense going. Would have been nice to get something last inning.

Some things are obvious … even to the average fan

for example:

Everyone “knew” the Packers offensive line would struggle against a Flores led Vikings defense. The game only reinforced what was obvious to anyone paying attention.

Everyone should have known that both Sproat & Harrison are “done” for the 2026 season. There was no need to waste a few games to verify that belief. It was obvious based on recent outings.

No reason to trade young controllable pitchers. What do you think you can get in return? He showed way to much potential to trade him.

The bench would be very crowded if we only used recent performance to judge future performance.

Well, at some point you’re risking injury to the pitcher. Don’t want to do anybody like that.

He had a pretty bad game the last time he pitched, couldn't find the strike zone and almost cost them the game and likely the division if the Guardians didn't come back in the 9th.

I mean we got the best half season out of him and for that I am thankful. But right now he cannot get hitters out in consecutive innings.

He got 2 outs in this inning and not all his fault, but he cannot get it done with runners on and then it just snowballs.  This isn't a one bad pitch or lucky hit and gives up a few runs. It is a series of starts with blow up innings.

At least we got Drohan in the deal.  But next spring training we will be looking for starting pitching again.

Demotion to AAA is what I would do because no one would want him unless we give him away.  Figure it out again in Nashville next year.

Harrison made that clear before today … he should be placed on the IL for mental weakness or optioned to make room for someone who can eat innings & save the bullpen arms.

Unfortunately, this lineup is making a very mediocre pitcher look like an All-Star … I’m not a fan of punting games.
