It would be brutal to see Harrison get another start against the Phillies next week. Option him, no chance they can use him in the playoffs.

I agree something needs to be done with him.

Demotion to AAA?? Trade??

I mean we got the best half season out of him and for that I am thankful. But right now he cannot get hitters out in consecutive innings.

He got 2 outs in this inning and not all his fault, but he cannot get it done with runners on and then it just snowballs.  This isn't a one bad pitch or lucky hit and gives up a few runs. It is a series of starts with blow up innings.

At least we got Drohan in the deal.  But next spring training we will be looking for starting pitching again.

BA talked about the book The Inner Game of Tennis. That's helped a lot of players in a lot of sports.

Maybe get Harrison the book on tape?

Think we can get a 2 for 1 deal on a sports psychologist for him and Sproat?

Hard to watch.

Yeah not sure if Sproat is all mental (like he is afraid to trust his stuff), or mechanical somehow.  He just cannot locate

Harrison seems to be major mental, but as had been written about he has a different arm angle and reduced velo.  He reminds me of Eric Lauer in his 2021 break out when he was on he was great, but very small margin.

Think the Harrison experiment may need to be shut down for 2026. Maybe call up Crow to eat innings in the rotation for the last week-plus of the season.

I think Wilson is eligible to come back as of today or tomorrow if I'm not mistaken. He might be the guy to eat up as many innings as he can?

Imagine telling a Brewer fan back in June that a healthy Kyle Harrison would be left off the playoff roster.

Maybe him and Sproat can retire and open up a youth sports psychology school called the Harry Sproats.

This is probably a minority viewpoint, but I wouldn't give up on him yet.  If it were an arm problem, sure, but it's mental, meaning it CAN be fixed.  (Although I've no idea how)!

We've got 9 meaningless games before it's for all the marbles.  Maybe give him one more shot?

I agree. Maybe he has something to give out of the pen.

This will need to be the last attempt.  There's way too much pitching depth to continue to deal with blow-ups.

For this year, we have final answers on Harrison & Sproat. They are unusable moving forward.

For next year, they are both huge question marks & should not be depended on for starting rotation roles.

Harrison has bounced to three organizations with occasional success but volatility in results.

Sproat has talent (good stuff) but appears to lack the “makeup” or “mental toughness” of a major league pitcher.

I would be pleased as punch if we traded both during the offseason.

Oh no, with Frelick in the line-up, who will replace Vaughn in the 5th inning today?

Too bad. Fine line in pro sports. Lots have it athletic but the mental game is huge part of success or failure. Same guy athletic but he's gone mentally.

Ill say this too.  When they show his early season side by sides, he looks fatter now.  They showed it on a split screen a couple starts ago while talking about his delivery and I noticed it and my wife said, "can't see the difference in throwing, but he looks fatter."    It might be nothing, but like you said, theres a fine line in pro sports.  They might want to look into his in season conditioning.

Wasn’t lost on me that Bo Naylor of course played a role in the snowballing in the second inning.

Every time this guy steps onto the field for us it’s been a complete disaster. I understand that we need organizational depth at catcher and we need to plan for life after wild Bill but Naylor is simply not it.

They tried that. It didn’t go well there either.

I'm fine if you want to bring him out in garbage time a couple times out of the pen in the next 9 days but at this point even if he finally has a few clean innings you can’t trust him in the playoffs.

and it is not lost on me that as of last time I checked Craig Yoho was playing very well for Cleveland.

I certainly hope he doesn’t get another opportunity this year … if only for the fans … he’s unwatchable in his current condition.

And I’m not as confident as you are regarding mental challenges being fixable for a big league player.

I think everyone knew he was cooked. With the bye not really in play, it was worth throwing this start at the wall and hoping it stuck. They wouldn't be where they are without him, but he is clearly done.

No way he's on the postseason roster. I don't think it's an issue 3 weeks off would help with. Honestly consider ourselves lucky it was very obvious before the playoffs started.

Interesting point.  I hadn't thought of that, but agree, it's kitchen sink time.
