About to begin the perfect early October tuesday - sneak onto a nice golf course in perfect weather for a round, grab a quick bit and a drink in the clubhouse, then settle in for what I hope is a NLDS-clinching win on the west coast on the TV

I get that, but if Skubal was a Brewer instead of a Dodger, then I think the consensus would be Milwaukee is world series favorite.  I believe most people think the Dodgers are the world series favorite now.

Does it really matter?  Nahh...

It's tough to bet against LA, but Atlanta has a real chance to cause a shift in the landscape after winning G2 & coming home with Sale & Mahle ready to go.

Atlanta is playing the starter game very well.

No Brewers lineup yet, but the Padres are going:

Tatis, Merrill, Machado

France, Salas, Sheets

Bogaerts, Harris, Cronenworth

Couple of shifts with Salas getting the start and hitting fifth. Merrill moves up to second. Harris drops to eighth.

Lefthanded batters posting just .442 OPS vs Pivetta in 2026. Only 79 PA, though.

LH batters have always fared a little bit worse than RH batters throughout Pivetta’s career.

Though I love Chourio leading off.

Might this be a ploy to get inside the heads of the Padres? Or is something else going on?

Chourio batted leadoff in game 1 and 2. Tonight is no different 🤷‍♂️

Ortiz at third tells me they are valuing infield defense over the platoon advantage. Pivetta having somewhat reverse splits might factor in as well.

Yelich has absolutely tattooed Pivetta over his career. 7 hits in 18 ABs, with 2HR and 2 doubles. He's also walked three times for a near .500 OBP and a massive 1.288 OPS. Makes sense to move him up to fifth, maybe.

When the starter only goes 3 innings they are really just planning out their bullpen matchups with the lineup. I'm sure they have a Vaughn PH strategy.

Or this could just be interpreted as putting the hitters who have looked the best at the plate farther up in the lineup. Bauers crushed one in G2 that he just got under.

Murphy said that he thinks the Padres might pitch around Jackson in a way and wanted Bauers to hit behind him since Turang is struggling a bit

Now SD is saying Sal Frelick was stealing signs and relaying to them Chourio. Watch Frelick touch his neck at 2nd base.  MLB Network, Plesac said "oh well that's why you study before a test."

Murph and the Brewers have openly admitted to stealing signs from second in the past.  It's something every team does; the Brewers just admit it.
