Game 7 - Packers @ Lions - Sunday, Oct. 25th @ 3:25 PM

Posted

The Lions are coming off a bye week and despite their 3-2 record are licking their wounds a bit with the league's worst defense (or neck and neck at least).

The Packers have been buoyed by massive improvement to their OL (all the way up to "meh") and are on a 3 win streak.  Hopefully Zeitler and Aaron will be ready to play this week and bump us up to "ok".

Our defense looks like they are understanding the system well and patiently waiting the return of Parsons.  If Detroit wises up, they should be able to attack us up the middle having lost several DTs and Cooper at MLB.  I was stunned to see the Cowboys give up the running game so quickly.  I don't think the Lions will miss that.

Time to head to Detroit and remember that they refused Love his hard-earned Turkey Leg!!! (Never forget!)

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I definitely would not be looking at the Lion's defense as a contender for the worst defense in the NFL.  They are allowing 7.5 yards per pass attempt, 22nd in the NFL.  4.2 yards per rushing attempt, 20th in the NFL.  20 sacks is #1 in the NFL.  Takeaways is the most disappointing number, only 5 which is tied for 26th in the NFL.

I'd be pretty worried about that sack number considering how bad the Packer's offensive line is.  Based on the numbers so far, I wouldn't go as far as saying they have a bad defense, but definitely they get a solidly below-average mark.

In yards and points given up per game, they were the worst or a decimal point away from the worst so far this year.  Listing a few specific stats in the 20-26 range (all bad) doesn't trumps the fact that they've given up the most yards per game and are right at the worst for points/game (which really is the only key stat that matters in the game).

You guys have done it now, watch Hutchinson break Love's leg in the first quarter.

Branch is coming back so I'm sure they will be much improved!

Great

I’m expecting this to be rough. But I can’t even begin to tell you how little stress I feel about this. Compared to the intensity of the last two nights of baseball, this Packers game feels like it’s barely more than preseason. I have very little emotional capital to spend on this one, and it is liberating.

Yeah, run up the middle.  That has been such a reliable yard getter all season.

Seriously, how does that happen?

You think you can hurt me? I watch Wisconsin sports. You can't hurt me.

More of the sloppy, undisciplined play we've come to expect of the MLF Packers.

Death, taxes, and the Packers having the worst kicker in the NFL.

Also your reminder again that the Packers cut the long snapper that Smack was working with all of training camp to keep Matt Orzech, who year after year is one of the worst snappers in the league.
