  1. Yes and no. I believe the Tigers would have to offer the player back and then they would be able to trade the player. I think this is what would have to happen.
  2. I believe this is the move that will be made for a CF.
  3. If I am trading with the Dbacks I would want Drury over Lamb. Drury doesn't offer much power but he is very similar to a former Brewer in Cirillo. He won't hit a lot of home runs but he should hit plenty of doubles and carry a high average and high OBP. He does also have some roster flexibility as he can also play 2B though I would prefer to see him at 3B reports have him as an average to above average 3B. You can expect Drury to put up a line of .300/.330/.400. With that slash line and lets say an average defense at 3B that would put him between Kyle Seager and Daniel Murphy last year in terms of WAR so somewhere between 2.5 and 3.9 WAR. For Lucroy I think a fair trade for both the Dbacks and the Brewers would be something like this: Brandon Drury (3B, 2B), Cody Reed (LHP), and Victor Reyes (OF) or Stryker Trahan (C, OF, 1B?) Two solid prospects in Drury and Reed. I would take Reyes over Trahan as Reyes has a better floor than Trahan does. Trahan has more of a ceiling with his power potential and if he can stick at catcher but if he can't stick at catcher and he doesn't hit as much you are looking at a Trumbo like player.
  4. I don't see Braun's PED use being a reason why a team will not trade for him. Braun's contract and his injuries are more of a deterrent for a team to trade for Braun than his PED use.
  5. I don't see the Red Sox as a fit for Lind. With Ortiz already at DH and retiring at the end of the year they really need someone who can be at 1B all year and that kills some of Lind's value. Lind isn't an everyday 1B as he should be platooned at 1B against lefties and he should really be playing as a DH and not a 1B. I also don't see how the Brewers are able to get away with just getting prospects in that deal the Red Sox are going to be looking at trying to get the Brewers to take on Ramirez.
  6. If they miss out on Davis I would think they would have more interest in Lind or Khris Davis than they would in Braun. Realistically I think there is only a few teams that Braun is going to accept a trade to and that would be a team like the Dodgers or the Angels. Plus if the Brewers trade Braun I don't see many teams giving up much to get Braun and the Brewers are going to take on a hefty chunk of his contract. I think the best option for the Brewers is just to hang onto Braun and ride it out as I just don't see the Brewers getting back the talent needed to be taking on a majority of Braun's contract.
  7. Well at least you don't have donkey's to worry about crossing the road.
  8. Jim Callis AFL top 20 prospect ranking. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/158015830?partnerId=ed-9887097-852027623
  9. Again you don't make any sense at all. The Dodgers have Urias who is an ace type pitcher something Nelson is not he is a #1 at best and really projects to be a #2 or #3 type pitcher. The Dodgers also have De Leon who is very similar to Nelson though De Leon's stuff could translate to a true #1 type pitcher with his floor being that of a #3 type pitcher. If the Dodgers are going to be saving money you would have to include Ethier or Crawford in the deal otherwise there is no money saving at all for the Dodgers. Again this trade makes no sense for the Dodgers as they are not going to give up Seager for junk just to save a few million here and there. This would just be a bad trade for the Dodgers and would not benefit them now or in the future.
  10. I have seen some really bad trades on here before but never two in one post! That Dodgers trade makes no sense on the Dodgers side. Nelson is not enough to get Seager. If the Dodgers are trading Seager they are going to want Arcia, Phillips, and Lara. The Rangers trade makes no sense on the Brewers side at all.
  11. So I did my digital interview today and it was one of the weirdest things I have ever done. It was very hard for me to even decide when I was done answering a question. This is extremely difficult as I had no visual clues or even audible clues from someone that this was the answering they were looking for. It felt like I was just rambling and I was one of those crazy people on YouTube.
  12. So for a job that I have applied for they want me to do a digital interview. Basically I have to record myself answering some questions that they have with a webcam. I have never done this before and just find this weird but I have already done the phone interview with the HR person and this is the next step before I get an interview with the hiring manager. Has anyone done one of these before? Any tips or tricks that I should know about? They said do not worry about the quality of the video so I think any type of a webcam should do.
  13. I hate cell phone companies. People complain about banks a lot but I find cell phone companies to be the absolute worst when it comes to dealing with them. Long wait times for customer service and then when you do talk to someone they have no idea what they are talking about and usually just transfer you to someone else once they are done doing nothing. Most of the time I have found out a trick and that is I ask for someone that is not in the US. Funny how that goes I used to ask for someone who was in the US for problems with HP products but now I am asking for someone outside the US as they are more knowledgeable and are actually nice to talk to even if I have to ask them to repeat something a couple of times.
  14. If the Brewers are going to go all high ceiling it would be better to take Ti'Quan Forbes over Cordell.
  15. With the Braves now shopping Freeman that is going to hurt Lind's immediate value on the market and to a lesser extent Lucroy's value also.
  16. It is rather comical what the Royals did because they play the exact same way that the Brewers have played the last few years with the same strategies. When Sveum was a coach here he had the Brewers swinging early in the count if it was a hittable pitch. The same philosophy is being used by the Royals now. Sveum has the Royals freely swinging at pitches no matter what the count is. The Royals didn't take many pitches when the count was 2-0 or even 3-0 there were a lot of hacks at pitches that were in the zone. I still do not get why hitters take a perfectly good pitch to hit when up in the count 2-0 or 3-0. The only time you should be taking a strike in those counts are when a pitcher makes a pitchers pitch and you can't make solid contact on the pitch. The Royals were also ambushing fastballs no matter what the count was. If the Royals hitters saw a fastball and it was in or near the zone they were swinging at it. This was another thing that Sveum preached in Milwaukee. The next thing that the Royals did was they were very aggressive on the base paths. To tie the game in game 5 they were extremely aggressive with that tying run. The Royals were taking extra bases on almost every hit a lot of them worked but there were a few that if it was a Brewers player a lot on this board would be calling them stupid and that they don't have any baseball smarts when it comes to running the base paths. The aggressiveness of the Royals paid off and this is one of the reasons why they were able to beat the Mets. Overall the Royals were the more aggressive team. They were more aggressive at the plate and more aggressive on the base paths. A lot of what the Royals have been doing is what the Brewers have been doing. I am not saying the Brewers are as good as the Royals as they are clearly are not but the past philosophy of the Brewers is very much an almost exact copy of what the Royals are doing now. I really hope Counsell stops his passive running of the bases and returns to the more aggressive form that the Brewers were doing. If you want the passive base running then you need more power hitters in your lineup which means there is going to be more strike outs. I would rather have a team built like the Royals where you have more contact players mixed with some power hitters and use some more aggressive base running.
  17. I am 90% certain this was either the A's or the Mariners that won the bid.
  18. That was a great game last night! But wow talk about going from happy to sad in mere seconds for Volquez. Starting game 1 of the World Series to finding out your father died. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/k-zone/article41631954.html
  19. A quote from Hammond: http://www.basketballinsiders.com/nba-pm-jabari-parkers-health-is-key-to-bucks-season/ A quote from Kidd: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13882794/jabari-parker-milwaukee-bucks-rookie-team-coach-jason-kidd-says So the Bucks are babying him and it doesn't look like he has been cleared by the doctors to go 100% at this time so the Bucks are doing the right thing in bringing him back slowly. The ESPN article was on Oct 13th so I don't think Parker will be ready by opening night it might be a full 2-3 weeks after and then you will see him put into the lineup but he will have limited minutes. The Bucks are going about this like bringing a young pitcher back from TJ surgery the year before.
  20. The Brewers owe Garza $25m over the next two seasons. The two players that stick out that have a higher per season cost are Jose Reyes, Matt Kemp, Crawford, and Andre Ethier. Ethier has the most value out of the three and I don't think the Padres are going to give up Kemp without getting someone else in return so that leaves Crawford and Reyes. Reyes is owed $48m more over the next three years ($44m '16-'17 and a $4m buyout in 2018). Crawford is owed $20.75 in '16 and $21m in '17. If Garza's option doesn't vest it would be a savings of $16m for the Dodgers or $3m if it does vest. For the Rockies it is a savings of $23m or $10m if the option vests. The Rockies would be a better fit for Garza and the question now becomes what does $10m in savings buy you in a prospect? The $10m savings would be the worst case scenario and if Garza is on the DL at the end of the 2017 season which is possible then it is a $23m savings which might be something the Rockies may gamble on for someone like McMahon?
  21. I wouldn't be surprised if Lohse is offered a spot in the organization to be a pitching coach or bullpen coach if he doesn't get an offer this winter in free agency.
  22. The Brewers definitely have a lot of depth in the OF in the minors. The depth in the OF is nice with Santana, Phillips, Clark, Harrison, Taylor, Reed, Roache, Coulter, and Orimoloye. I would rather try and get a stud pitching prospect with one of the extra OF's but getting someone like McMahon wouldn't be a bad idea. I am not sure if this is something the Rockies would do. The Rockies do have an albatross of a contract with Reyes and they could save $10m if they include Reyes in the deal and take on Garza's contract. I think Reyes may have more value than that though but it will be hard to find someone to take a significant portion of Reyes contract without getting back a player who has about an equally as bad contract as Reyes does.
  23. I'm not sure why people are saying it is something to do with the coaching for Estrada or Gallardo. Estrada's and Gallardo's stats say something completely different than what everyone is saying. If you are just looking at ERA then yes you are right there is something there but if you dive deeper into their stats you will find this as false. I'm just going to pick on Estrada here as that is what this thread is about: Estrada last year was horrible he was giving up a lot of home runs at a higher rate than his career averages. After the 2014 season the Brewers would have been lucky to even get a C rated prospect. Actually Estrada was on the chopping block to be DFA'd. The majority of the people on this site wanted to DFA Estrada during the 2014 season. Do you really think the Brewers would have gotten a prospect for Estrada in the off season? What the Brewers got in Lind was an absolute over pay by the Blue Jays. This was the consensus by nearly everyone who broke down this trade. Now lets see exactly what Estrada did in 2014: 4.36 ERA; 7.59 K/9; 2.63 BB/9; 1.73 HR/9; .257 BABIP; 74.6% LOB; 32.7% GB; 13.2% HR/FB 2015 3.13 ERA; 6.51 K/9; 2.73 BB/9; 1.19 HR/9; .216 BABIP; 79.2% LOB; 32.2% GB; 8.7% HR/FB What does this tell us? The coaching had NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT on Estrada from 2014 to 2015. The biggest change was his ERA which can be explained by a higher strand rate and a lower BABIP. Estrada is actually the same pitcher he was in 2014 with very minor differences. You can actually say he was worse in 2015 than he was in 2014. When you look at his walk and strike out rates both were negatives. I fully expect Estrada to return to a 4.00 ERA pitcher next season or worse. Garza has a better chance next year to be a 3.00 ERA pitcher than Estrada does. The same can be said for Gallardo.
  24. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Brett Phillips 3. Jorge Lopez 4. Trent Clark 5. Tyrone Taylor 6. Gilbert Lara 7. Zach Davies 8. Josh Hader 9. Kodi Medeiros 10. Clint Coulter 11. Monte Harrison 12. Devin Williams 13. Demi Orimoloye 14. Michael Reed 15. Marcos Diplan 16. Wei-Chung Wang 17. Jake Gatewood 18. Adrian Houser 19. Cody Ponce 20. Victor Roache 21. Jorge Ortega 22. Yadiel Rivera 23. Nathan Kirby 24. Taylor Williams 25. Joantgel Segovia This was really hard as there are a lot of players deserving to be in the top 25. This list looks a lot better than it did one year ago. There are still a lot of B's and C's in the top 25 but there is also at least one A type prospect and possibly 2 with Arcia and Phillips.
  25. Pretty good cast for a video game: This is just one ship that they go through a rather large ship but just one ship and it is not even all of it:
