  1. If we could develop everyone fully Frelick is a .300 hitting leadoff man with a gold glove in left, Chourio hits upper .275-.300 with 30/30 or better with high end defense and Weimer or Mitchell hit over .250 with 30/30 potential and gold glove in RF. If we could only develop hitter in the bigs.
  2. I agree but he only struck out 116 time last year so if he meets his potential and hits 270/350/900 he shouldn't have crazy K numbers. He just needs to lay off breaking pitches out of the zone and not pop up as many pitches as hit did last year.
  3. I would hate to trade him when his value is low, however he would seem the easiest to move/lose. If I were to trade him it would be for a big upside pitcher/3rd who is young controllable and probably didn't have a great 2023. Miguel Vargas and Gavin Stone from the Dodgers fit the mold, maybe Jose Miranda other other Twins package, Oswald Peraza could be the starting a deal as well. In a perfect world, we could trade Yelich and get a solid young contributor and let Weimer, Frelick, Mitchell, and Taylor all play and then sort it out come say June/July when Chourio can no longer be contained in AAA.
  4. I think the Pads nontendered Austin Nola, he has been solid until last year. He can play a hint of 1st or even 2nd. I kind of like Francisco Mejia as a backup as well. As a switch hitter, who we could help on defense and maybe re-find his bat. Probably just living in the past on him however. To be honest, I would be ok just letting Payton Henry be the backup and maybe signing an old friend like Manny Pina as AAA depth or to compete with Henry. If anything awful happens Quero isn't to far away.
  5. The cards signed Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson. Not the guys Cards fans invisioned I would guess, maybe Lynn still has some upside. Braves signed Reynaldo Lopez 3/30, Lopez has been solid but not elite. It should show solid reliever values still if we want to trade a reliever. If we keep Burnes and Adames (others) we still need some middle of the order bats to be a contender. Yeli and Contraras are solid but more 1/2 hitters. The Dbacks had Walker, Gurriel, Marte, and Carroll to provide consistentcy for their playoff run. Our lineup doesn't have enough depth unless we get huge improvement from our young guys. To me it would be better to get some good young upside bats for Burnes and Adames then lean on our pitching department to develop or have a few reclamation projects to make a workable rotation. Not to mention using some of the saved money on short term vets. I have way more faith in piecing together pitching and putting our resources into offense. Our organization has been so terrible in developing bats through the system it is really sad.
  6. I would love Polanco, especially if we trade Adames. Polanco could play 2B or a little 3B (SS for a game or two if need be but not more). He still has great power that would play up in AFF. I wouldnt mind trading an OF for him but would want a decent 2nd piece if it is Weimer or Mitchell just based on control and potential. For Taylor straight up would be pretty close. Weimer for Polanco and SS Danny De Andrade would seem ok to me.
  7. Agreed. Unless we could truly get Caminero or Holiday. Pairing one of those with Chourio and hopefully a couple other of our young bats would be insane.
  8. I would take Camenerio or the O's guys but I just think this guys with superstar ceilings rarely get traded. More likely packages would be. O's Coby Mayo, Norby/Ortiz, Bradfield, Tyler Wells or Mayo, Basallo, Norby/Ortiz Rays Carson Williams, Curtis Mead, Mason Montgomery, Chandler Simpson or Taj Bradley, Mead/Williams, and Simpson
  9. I think most of those guys are untouchable. We would probably get a package like what we gave up for Yeli. A top 30 prospect, 2 in or around the top 100 and a 4th guy who is more than a throw in.
  10. Burnes and Payamps for Samuel Basallo, Connor Norby, DL Hall, Chayce McDermott Adames to LAD for SS Joendy Vargas and C Hunter Feduccia Yelich to Angel's for Tyler Anderson, Nelson Rada, Ben Joyce Sign Rhys Hoskins 2/40, Justin Turner 1/16, Trevor Bauer 1/14 (with 25 mill option 2025, 3 million buyout and 5 million in incentives), Lucas Giolito 2/42. Not mentioned Woody 2/25 We improve our farm system by sending out our vets and Payamps, we go for high end young prospects Basallo, Vargas, Rada and get guys like Norby, Hall, Feduccia, Anderson who can help immediately. To make up for the trades we overpay 4 vets (Turner, Hoskins, Bauer, Giolio) to short term deals who stabilize the middle of the lineup and provide a risky but high end 6 man rotation. (Rea takes spot for 1st injury) I doubt it would be possible to sign those 4 vets if we trade Yeli, Adames, and Burnes. But we would be a contender have the best farm in the league, and not really block any major prospects and come in budget wise at a respectable place for Marky Mark. C: William Contreras ($0.77M) 1B: Rhys Hoskins ($20M) 2B: Norby ($0.77M) 3B: Black ($0.77M) SS: Turang ($.77M) LF: Frelick ($.77M) CF: Mitchell ($0.77M) RF: Tyrone Taylor ($1.70M) DH: Turner ($16M) Bench OF: Weimer ($0.77M) Utility: Bauers ($1.7M) Utility: Montesario ($.77M) Backup C: Feduccia ($.77M) SP1: Bauer ($14M) SP2: Freddy Peralta ($5.50M) SP3: Giolito ($21M) SP4: Adrian Houser ($5.60M) SP5: Anderson ($13M) CL: Devin Williams ($6.50M) RP: Abner Uribe ($0.77M) RP: Hoby Milner ($1.70M) RP: Bryse Wilson ($1.30M) RP: Hall ($.77M) RP: Trevor Megill ($0.77M) RP: Elvis Peguero ($0.77M) RP: Gasser ($.77M) Payroll is 15.16% under budget
  11. Burnes and Payamps for Samuel Basallo, Connor Norby, DL Hall, Chayce McDermott Adames to LAD for IF Jorbit Vivas and C Hunter Feduccia Yelich to Angel's for Tyler Anderson, Nelson Rada, Ben Joyce Sign Rhys Hoskins 2/36, Justin Turner 1/16, Trevor Bauer 1/12 (with 25 mill option 2025, 3 million buyout and 5 million in incentives), Lucas Giolito 2/40. 12. I worry about Chapman, great glove but he was crap after the 1st month or so. If I am a smaller budget team and I am going to give someone 6/150 (rumors of what he will get) they should be a proven middle of the order bat. Chapman is a .240 hitter who strikes out a ton and hasnt had an ops over .800 since 2020. Honestly after the past week, Woody on a decent 2 year deal (5/18 with incentives) might be my #1. I want my Woody back please.
  13. I live for speculation baby.
  14. Any chance we could move Quero in a package for a young star? He is a top 30 prospect and blocked by Contreras. If we package Quero, Weimer, and another prospect or 2 could we find a player like we got in Yelich was? 1 problem is that alot of teams have a good catcher. If we trade Burnes or Williams we could keep the farm strong and improve the big league club. Maybe just flip him for another top30ish prospect that isn't a catcher. Probably we are better served waiting until the trade deadline or next year to worry about flipping Quero. Names: Luis Robert, Dylan Cease, Randy Arozeana (other Rays under the radar pieces) Nolan Gorman, Red infielder (not India), Ceddeanne Rafeala, Jace Jung (+more), Marlins, Yankees package ???. Bobby Witt.
  15. It's been a busy offseason so far. Here is a new thread to jot down ideas or put down things you've heard.
  16. Agreed, I would probably extend Contreras, sign a short term vet, and hope to spend the long term money on Chourio in the near future.
  17. Angel Perdomo would be nice to have back as a 2nd lefty. I like Jovani Moran but I think he is out most of the year so probably not. If we are really serious about Bauers playing 1st maybe Juan Yepez as a platoon. Kyle Lewis was really good in AAA so maybe. Nola or Knizner as a backup catcher. 1)Perdomo 2) Nola 3) Yepez
  18. Nice to see Lara getting some love at #62.
  19. The Mariners traded a decent young reliever to pay Urias who was very good with the Red Sox outside of 1 mega game. The Padres non-tendered Austin Nola who I think would be a decent vet backup for Contreras even though he was trash last year. The Braves made another puzzling trade of Kyle Wright (great in 2022, garbage 23, out all 24) for Jackson Kowar of the Royals who has just been overall bad, even in AAA.
  20. Meh, AAA depth ok but not much more than a Pablo Reyes type players at best. Or at least it would appear that way.
  21. My bad, thanks. I know better.
  22. Agreed, the article/interview of him saying he want to be back around mid-season was likely a ploy by his agent to try and get the Brewers or someone to pick up his option instead of getting like 5 million this year and then being tied to a team option for 2025 if he signs as a FA.
  23. Agreed, I would almost want 3 solid pieces for him. I know that all of the 5 guys the Braves traded for Bummer lost value last year but if it was just Sorotka for Bummer I would say the Braves got ripped off. Bummer was awful, advanced stats are kinder but still not good. If those trade values for relievers stay I would trade Payamps, Wilson, Milner, and Williams and role the dice on finding some more out of no where guys.
  24. I guess if he is non-tendered at least we can still try and sign Woody to a multi year deal. My guess is that big market teams can get more creative and throw around way bigger incentives and risk more.
  25. This trade makes no sense to me. I wouldnt pay Bauers 1.7 million if he was a free agent. He has no options was an average at best defense 1st baseman and terrible OF. He is 5'11" so it's not like he is a great target and from what I can find his splits don't point to a strict platoon boost. Avina isn't a perfect prospect but he seemed to show a lot of improvement at the end of the year and Appleton doesn't seem to be a hitters park. Where as Bauers coming from the Bronx sandbox may actually lose a ballpark boost coming to AFF. At that we also added Brain Sanchez who was pretty decent last year despite being far away. If our starting 1st baseman is Jake Bauers next year we may as well just throw in the flag. This is an F move in my opinion, no upside and basically giving a roster spot to a proven below average player before any big move are made. I am sure this is a player favorite of Arnold's since he was in the Ray's system when Arnold was there.
