  1. I am against trading Yelich, however there is always a deal that would work. If we could get a proven middle of the order bat, a second piece, and out from the long term deal the team would have to think about it. I can't think of anything that really fits but say George Springer, Alex Manoah, and a prospect for Yeli and Houser. Obviously that is a stretch for both teams but we get, a solid bat with some money but 2 less years and an upside pitcher who has struggled. Maybe when Ohtani leaves LAA the Angels trade Trout. Even through he is hurt Trout (Angels pay like 5-10 million a year) for Yelich, Mitchell, and Ashby sounds intrueging to me. Again never ever happening. The Twins for Byron Buxton and Royce Lewis we add in a prospect like EBJ. I probably like this the best. Buxton could DH and play OF occasionally and Lewis seems blocked by Correa and Julian. (I don't want anything to do with Correa).
  2. Wouldn't be a bad idea to me coming off injury. Probably depends on how the org feels about taking time from Henry or Naveretto.
  3. What about Robbie Ray from the Mariners. The M's have a massive amount of young pitching and could probably pay down some of Ray's contract. Ray would be a bit of a risk but our pitching team would work well with him and we would be buying low. Say something like Ray and Ty France for Garrett Mitchell and another prospect/player depending on how much of Ray's salary the M's take on.
  4. That HR tonight was beautiful, he didn't even look like he swung that hard. His new stance standing a little taller has a little non wiggle Griffey Jr. to it. He also gave Willy the day off and we scored 12. It should at least tell CC that we can't have a #4 hitter who is at .200. Also it seems like the past couple years he has ended the season on fire. Last year he hit 10+ HR in the second half so it isn't crazy that he will hit 20+ HR's, not this year.
  5. How many potential top 100 prospects do we have in our org. I could truly can see Lara, Adams, EBJ, Yophrey, Carlos Rodriguez, Wilken, Knoth, Pratt, Bitonti all potentially joining the current top 6-7 of our org. in the top 100 at some point next year. Add in a few long shots like Guillarte, Logan Henderson. Blalock, O'Rae, Baez, Boeve. Jimenez and more Luke Adams may be the most under rated prospect around the league. MLB.com seriously gave him a 30 grade speed as a guy who has stole 27 bases in 78 games ( that report is only a couple weeks old).
  6. I feel like Williams would have more value than Burnes at this point based on 2 years of control vs. 1 however my Burnes return might be a little light, I was thinking the CWS would eat about 8 million of Eloy's contract (5 million next year and 3 mill option) however even with that I should probably add a decent player/prospect from CWS (Gregory Santos would fit the bill) I would be looking into a little bit of a moneyball approach and turn 2 of our higher paid stars into 4-5 upgrades. The past 2 years we have used like 60 different players a year. I am thinking we should just have like 10 higher quality bats who will just stick to 1 spot and only have a few left right platoons. I think with Chourio still in AA he is looking at a June/July debut. Having a a Yeli, Frelick, Mitchell, Weimer, Jimenez OF/DH would probably mean an injury at some point and a Chourio opening. I would be 100% fine with trading Weimer/Mitchell and giving Chourio CF and putting Yeli to DH/4th OF (getting something else Burnes deal).
  7. Rea was bad and had some bad luck in the 1st. However we had a chance to score 8 runs. Adames batting 4th, Anderson's terrible return (only 2 rehab gams), and Weimer's continued struggles vs. RHP really hurt us. I feel like Counsil has done a great job this year however his pigheaded-Ness with his favorites is really hurting us.
  8. I love the idea Black getting a bunch of starts at 1st. With no apparent 1B for the future he would be a great option next year. He should have great range and hands. At 6'1" he would be a good target as well. Still waiting for AAA to call.
  9. I am OK with the idea of trading Williams for a massive haul. No to trading Yeli unless we got a big bat back, I get that it would be nice to get rid of him before declines at the end of the deal. However we really need him to keep some consistency in the lineup. Burnes to NYY Jasson Dominguez to CWS and Eloy Jimenez (some cash as well) and Clarke Schmidt to Brewers This way we get a needed bat and high upside mlb arm, the CWS get a high upside prospect and the Yanks add Burnes to Cole, Severino, and Rodon. Williams to Texas, Arizona, or Dodgers I will say Williams to Dodgers for Gavin Stone/Emmett Sheehan/Bobby Miller/Ryan Pepiot, Alex Vesia, and Kyle Hurt We get a rotation ready arm, back end reliever, and high upside prospect. Nontender=Rowdy, Huira, Taylor, Lauer, Houser?/trade Sign=Rhys Hoskins 3/45 (opt out after year 1), Chafin (decline option sign 1/5 with team option for 25, Jeimer Candelario 2/24 (team option) We should have money to spend if we trade away guys and non-tender a bunch. Also extend Woody (maybe mid-season 5/100) 1)Frelick 2)Contreras 3)Yeli 4)Jimenez 5)Hoskins 6)Candelario 7)Adames 8)Weimer/Mitchell 9) Turang Bench=Henry, Monty, Miller, Weimer/Mitchell Rotation=Woody, Peralta, Ashby, Schmidt, Dodgers P, Pen=Payamps, Peguaro, Milner, Uribe, Wilson, Vesia, Chafin, Gasser (long man/6th starter) I didn't check how much that puts our salary at but we would have 6 potential top of the rotation arms with Misi, Rodriguez, and Hurt ready at some point next year (potentially). We would have 6 quality bullpen arms with some good options to pick up the Williams slack. The lineup is crazy better although I admit I don't know how much Hoskins would want.
  10. I know it's way to early but who doesn't love trade and free agent ideas for next year.
  11. With Cahna, Yeli, Frelick, Weimer, Anderson, Perkins, and Taylor I think the OF is covered. We only have 4 guys who can play 2B, SS, and 3B in Turang, Adames. Anderson, and Montesterio. It will definitely make pinch hitting the non starter hard at least until the very end of the game. Perkins, Taylor, and Weimer (just for 2 weeks to get his extra year of contol) all could/should go down. VS RHP C Contreras, 1B Santana, 2B Turang, SS Willy, 3B Monty, LF Yeli, CF Frelick, RF Anderson/Canha DH Canha/Anderson (No more Weimer VS. RHP) VS LHP C Contreras, 1B Santana, 2B Monty, SS Adames, 3B Anderson, Lf Yeli, CF Weimer, RF Taylor/Perkins, DH Canha
  12. 1) B+. Santana helps 1B defense and provides a better middle of the order bat than what has been put out there. Barrios has some high end upside to make this bad in the long term. 2)B+. Basically the same boat as the Santana trade, his defensive versatility can help and is at least a huge improvement at DH and verse lefties. Jarvis is at best Adrian Houser in a few years so we don't really lise a ton of potential. 3)A. I love this deal, I don't see Strez turning into legit high stress reliever. Chafin had amazing 21 and 22 seasons, if he can limit the walks he will be a huge add. Add in a potentially pickupable 2024 option and jackpot. 4)A-. This depends on if you think Urias would have had a chance to be a 2B upgrade. However I feel like we would have non-tendered Urias next year so getting a solid young arm is great. 5)A. McKendry kind of has a Jason Alexander/Colin Rea feel to him next year. With Henry, Naveretto, and Quero getting something something interesting is a win. Missing opportunities= There really weren't any big bats to be had at a reasonable price. However not getting a 2B/3B upgrade does seem like a bit of a miss. Final Grade= A-. We got 3 solid improvements and got a prospect who is better than anyone we gave up. There were no wow moves but we are better set to compete and didn't lose anything towards the future.
  13. 1) Santana for Barrios 2) Canha for Jarvis 3) Chafin for Strezlecki 4) Blalock for Urias 5) McKendry for Jackson Missed opportunities= Overall deadline Grade=
  14. He probably would pass through unprotected even if we send him to AA a some point.
  15. Blalock ranked #17 on the Red Sox rankings for fan graphs. Here is a red sox site scouting report https://soxprospects.com/players/blalock-bradley.htm Looks like a good get if management didn't plan for him to return and the non tendered next year.
  16. Agreed we spend a bunch of money on Brian Anderson, Voit, Hiura as well as all the in-season pickups (Ruf, Tapia, etc.). You could add Winker as well but I think most of us were ok with that. The problem is none of those guys have much upside. If we just found 1 better bat for similar value (Bellinger, Drury) and filled the hole in with our depth things would be better.
  17. I like this deal, Canha can let Weimer go down to AAA to get his extra year. Go Yeli, Frelick, Canha with Perkins and Miller as depth or to let Canha DH.In a few weeks Canha goes to DH/1B platoon and 4th OF. He hits LHP really well and is solid. Is he sparkly, no but he is better than most of our lineup. The option is interesting and unlikely but he could be a good option to decline the 11.5 mill option and then resign. Jarvis is solid but ultimately we have Peralta, Ashby, Gasser, Rodriguez, Misi maybe Woody that would be ahead of him. Best case he could be like Houser worse Dylan File/Alec Bettinger.
  18. Yes, sorry thought I had that in there. Burnes for Kim based trade this offseason.
  19. Kim would be nice but I wouldnt give up Chourio, Misi, or Quero. I would be ok with a solid package for him however my guess is the Pads would want an established player for him. A prospect package of Frelick, and 2 10-20 ranked prospect seems reasonable. I think maybe something based on a Burnes for Kim swap this summer might make more sense. The Pads could lose Snell, Lugo, and Wacha with Darvish going down hill they don't have much in there rotation after Joe Musgrove and little in the way of interesting upper minors arms.
  20. What about Michael Kopech from the White Sox's. He has 2 and half year left and a top of the rotation arm. I feel like our pitching team could improve his change-up and he could go from a 4+ era guy to a sub 3. I would give up a top 100 prospect but Gasser and Eric Brown seems like start of a solid package for him.
  21. Just a place to organize trade ideas with 3 days left to the deadline.
  22. Would it make sense to bring Woody up for his next start? I know they want 1-2 more rehab starts however 85-90% of Woody for 70 pitches is better than Rea, Teheran, or Houser will give you. If Woody is throwing anyways and his stuff has been good why not have it in the big leagues. His next start would be at the Nats or home vs. Pirates so it's not like he would be facing a daunting offense.
  23. I wouldnt offer any of our top 10 prospects for Eloy. I would probably give 3 solid prospects but his injury concerns any k/bb rates would keep me away from anything substantial. My best offer would be Logan Henderson, Hendry Mendez, and Carlos Rodriguez (OF). I feel like that is a substantial offer with good upside but nothing to crazy that would make us really regret it. That being said I am sure the Sox would want/get a top 100 prospect and more.
  24. I wouldn't be a fan of trading Caratini. We do have 2 solid AAA catchers (3 with Naveretto) however I can't see us getting more than a prospect like Johnny Severino (Santana trade). To me that just isn't worth risking a Burnes decline.
  25. I wrote in a different thread I wrote that Jorge Polanco would be a good fit. Jeimer would be my #1 if the price doesn't get to high.
