  1. Yelich is a below average defensively LF. Why are you trying to compare his value while putting up numbers like that to a guy like Adames or Chapman who provide plus defense at more defensively important positions? Do you just not understand defense has value especially at a position like SS?
  2. Matt Chapman was hitting FA 2 years older and is lower on the defensive spectrum than Adames. Weird comparison. Also Chapman is on pace for a 3.5 fWAR season and 5+ bWAR season, why would the Giants regret that?
  3. Adames had a 109 wRC+ and 4.4 fWAR in 2022...how is that not very good? I swear people on this site treat Adames like he's mediocre garbage when he's by far the second best SS in this franchise's history.
  4. Adames has been far more consistent than Swanson heading into FA. Adames only season below a 3 fWAR/150 G pace was his rookie season. Swanson was below that pace for 3 of his 7 seasons in Atlanta and that doesn't include his rookie year
  5. I don't understand this big reluctance by fans here to extend Adames. You can sign these players to pre-arb extensions while Adames is extended. By the time Chourio's contract actually gets expensive, Yelich would be off the books and Adames would be towards the end of a hypothetical extension. If you did extend Joey Ortiz same story. By the time his deal actually is expensive Adames at the end of his extension. Chourio's first year making over $10M is 2029 where he's at $15M and he's not set to make over $20M until 2032.
  6. Yeah you aren't extending Joey Ortiz and buying out 3 years of FA for under $60M. That possibility is long gone.
  7. The Dodgers are a pretty obvious fit for Adames. Mookie is not a SS and I doubt they want Mookie playing SS as a long term thing. Their only notable SS prospect is 18 years old and in the ACL.
  8. Ortiz turns 26 in less than a month. Extending him and buying out some FA years would be getting his age 31/32, 32/33, 33/34 years if you bought out 3 FA years. If you don't want them to extend Adames into his 30's why do you want them to do so with Ortiz?
  9. Luis Pena was removed after the 5th inning today. Time for all of us to cross our fingers that he's not hurt.
  10. Conversely it’s equally fun seeing the other DSL team up 5-0 with Luis Pena adding a 19th SB
  11. Never fun to open up the old milb box scores to check on the DSL teams and see one of them down 8-0 in the 3rd inning.
  12. Cubs have a pretty consensus Top 3 farm in baseball, so don't know where you're getting the mediocre farm system from.
  13. Yes that's correct. The only other catcher on the 40-man is Quero who it obviously won't be. Would need to be someone added to the 40.
  14. Haase or Mejia would be the call up if Contreras needed to go on the IL.
  15. Mookie Betts also out with a fracture in his hand. The 2 seed is within reach.
  16. I imagine Carolina would be absolutely okay with that given their SP injuries at the moment. An 8 game week even with 3 of them being 7 innings and 1 being 5 innings would likely put a lot of stress on the arms down in Carolina's bullpen.
  17. Do you have any idea on how close Woodward or Crow are to pitching again? I think Crow had TJ last August so I imagine he's a ways away still, but I think Woodward had it over a year ago at this point. Also any idea on the severity of Juan Baez shoulder injury?
  18. The being bad against LHP makes no sense when you look at our roster on paper. Hopefully it turns around at some point.
  19. I do wonder if they intentionally walk Elly there if Candelario was on deck. Maybe they do because Elly was crushing the Brewers in this series, but it becomes a lot less automatic then it was with Espinal on deck.
  20. The tying run already was in scoring position. Adames throwing error went into the dugout so the runner got 2B.
  21. Yeah that was a huge performance from Rund. Wisconsin was probably imagining Fitzpatrick would go at least 4 innings and potentially even finish the game. He only got 2 outs. Rund saved the pen big time getting 10 outs.
  22. Can't imagine the Timber Rattlers planned for Brian Fitzpatrick to not even give them an inning today. Rund comes in with runners on 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs. Routine ground ball to 1B and Rund drops the well thrown pitch to him covering the base. 8-5 Rattlers and we have ourselves a game today.
  23. Mudcats get 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs in the 5th and don't get a single run. They are really doing everything in their power to make this first half race go down to the wire.
