Minnesota is missing Morneau and it shows.

Not really. They won a lot of games without him this year.

I know that. Against the Yankees they could use a bigger bat in the middle of the line-up. The Twins regardless have had issues coming through in the clutch and they have had there chances. My take is that they are trying to do to much and go for the home run when they are behind in the score. They need to focus on going the other way and take what the pitchers give them and just get on base. The Twins haven't been trying to go the other way with the Yankees pitchers, and that is why the Yankees pitchers are having there way with the Twins.

I'm listening to Jim Powell's call of ATL/SF on Gameday Audio and maybe it's the difference between my computer audio and my radio, but Jim's voice sounds a little deeper than it did when he was with the Brewers.
That pretty much is in the hands of the broadcast's producer (Kent Summerfeld, for instance) to balance out their sound. I know exactly what you're talking about, though, as I've listened to Jim on MLB radio a bunch of times this season. They've really dipped his lows below the median line on the mixer.

Cory Provus is the opposite. His audio contains very little bass and always sounds too tinny to my ears.

Wendelstedt has always been a jerk and full of himself. I'd be quite angry if I was a Twins fans. Are playoff umpires supposed to be the best?
I count 14 out of the strike zone for Minnesota vs. 2 for the Yankees. To me it's not the size of the strike zone, it's consistency, and both Wendelstedt and Crawford have been inconsistent to both teams.

ETA:
I thought Pavano only got one gift strike call, but according to this, he got two. Yea, poor Twins.

Sweet merciful crap, that's four errors for Cincinnati in game 2 of their NLDS. The Brewers could have done that!

Gutsy move by Glaus not going for the force out at home with 1 out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th. An aggressive slide into second and the game is over.

Wow, I went to bed the earliest I have on a Friday since probably April and I missed the Braves' comeback. That'll learn me.

The ridiculous amount of missed calls has been embarrassing. And that one could've been corrected faster than the argument from Garza and Maddon took. Just fire all these clowns already. They're a complete embarrassment to the game.

That was just a horrible, horrible call on Crawford. Why not have Tennis-style replay for balls and strikes where players can challenge and the computer call can be immediately shown on the scoreboard? It would only take 30 seconds at most per challenge.

I know the Twins still have some time, but if I were their fans right now I'd be tempted to say "make it stop."

Edit: And finally, it does. Ouch.

That was merciless. For all their ability to dominate the AL Central over the last few years, the Twins have certainly not been able to do anything with it. I'm reminded of the Braves in the nineties.

Yes, the Yankees swept the Twins, but their payroll is almost $110,000,000 higher than the Twins, so we really shouldn't have expected anything different.

Maybe we could have combined the Brewers and the Twins and then taken on the Yankees. The Yankees still would have had a payroll advantage.

Our offense with Mauer and their pitching with Gallardo.

Is it wrong that I want to see the Reds swept so that the Brewers remain the last NL Central team to win a playoff game.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

If it's wrong, I don't want to be right. This is not to say that I am actively excited for the Phillies.

Cincy's a good town and deserves a fun night. I'm pulling for them to win. They can't really do anything to stop the inevitable Phillies/Yankees rematch though.

Also nice to see a sellout crowd in Atlanta.

They sold out their NLDS games in 2003...thanks to the 20,000 or so Cubs fans that showed up.

Meanwhile, that clutch 2-run bomb by Hinske completely turned the series around.

Ouch...and now a Buckner-like play to turn it back around to the Giants!!!

Brooks Conrad doing his best Junior Spivey impression with three errors in one game. This one is on a much bigger stage though. Yikes. Epic meltdown this inning by the Wagner-less Braves bullpen and defense.

Great scouting report on Brian Wilson.

"More guts than stuff."

His 96-98 mph fastball and upper 80s slider would like a word with whoever wrote that.
