Lucroy Trades/Proposals (part 4)

MLB Radio just said that Milwaukee is telling teams interested in Lucroy that they have a "significant" piece on the table.....

I don't understand what this means? Are they saying that Lucroy is the "significant piece" and teams better pony up, or are they saying that another team has made them a "significant offer" and you better put your best offer on the table right now or else you'll get left out?

My ideal (and realistic?) Indians trade would be:

Lucroy alone (or maybe with Torres or a low level prospect):

Bradley

Meija

McKenzie

Hillman

Lucroy and Smith add Aiken or Sheffield and maybe a Rookie Ball lottery ticket.

Will this be Jonathan Lucroy’s last day with #Brewers? I hear talks ratcheted up with more than one team in last 24 hours. One call away.

The latter.

Or maybe "significant piece on the table" means that Stearns just bought a Desert Eagle .50 Cal and he literally has it on his table, and is cleaning it or something.

A team has offered the Brewers a significant return piece and I'm assuming its a "better pony up" notification

Rather than sorting through all the old messages could someone post what could be realistic offers from the indians for Lucroy or Lucroy and Smith? Looks like they have 5 or so top 100 prospects. Who could we get there?

If both are included in a trade to CLE you're looking at getting Frazier/Zimmer, Bradley, Mejia, McKenzie, Hillman and other low level, young prospects. No idea how many will be included but these are the main names that seem to be popping up in speculation of what we could see

At this point I could see the Indians parting with Zimmer. With the emergence of Frazier, Naquin, Diaz, Chisenhall, JRam, Allen, lower level guys like Santander, Lukes, Marabell. Then there is Brantley as well. I think the Indians, as well as most people, now have Frazier as the top prospect in the system. Zimmer is now much more expendable and still very valuable.

I thought the same thing. Frazier is two years younger and probably the better player, so Zimmer becomes a very valuable trade chip at a "surplus" position. Meanwhile, he could step right in as the starting CF for Milwaukee, and could slide over to a corner position when Phillips is ready.

I think the reason so many people are looking at Cleveland as the most likely landing spot is how well the needs fit. They desperately need a stud catcher, they have enough prospects that they could trade some and still have a strong farm, and their prospects fit into our areas of need.

Zimmer would be my guess.

I read this as Stearns saying that the headline name coming back needs to be a very good. It probably means that a team has offered a package containing a strong headline name, so this is the last call for other teams to step up and try to beat that offer. "Quantity over quality" deals need not apply.

If MLB Radio has a solid source, then this probably means that we have seen the last of Lucroy playing for the Brewers. He will probably suit up today and step out to take a curtain call at some time before he leaves the dugout to give the fans a last chance to cheer what he has done for the Brewers.

Yeah, it's close to bar close and Stearns just yelled "Last Call!" #BeerPuns

Is Stearns married? Maybe its a deal with LA, and the "significant piece" is Jennifer Lawrence.

Typical bad journalism. It can be read several different ways.

I will assume it means we are being offered a top 10 talent or Margot Robbie.

I think the latter......Everybody knows Lucroy is on the table

I doubt the Red Sox would trade Moncada but Dombrowski being who he is, it is not out of the question (and I myself mentioned the Red Sox swopping in as a possibility/hope yesterday).

Question is: Would you do a Lucroy for Moncada straight up trade if it came to that? I would try to add a couple Rookie level arms also but really not sure how hard I would push that.

If the Brewers are saying this I feel like last nights game was Lucroy's last he plays as a Brewer. We may even see a mid-game farewell today.

I don't see how that can be read several different ways. The only way I read it is some team has a significant piece on the table and if you want him, you better be willing to put a piece better than that on the table.

So exciting! But also a little sad.

Yup. While I know trading Lucroy makes sense and am excited to see how the trade could shape the team's future, it still stinks to see him go. Will Smith, too - he seems to be a great guy and a fun teammate.

But how can they have a big piece on the table when Sandy Alderson said they were asking for too much??

Because D'Arnaud is the significant piece

Alderson has decided to include himself in the trade. What grander font of baseball intelligence could you wish for?

In a heartbeat. Think of an Arcia + Moncada + Phillips center of the park for the future.

Our bullpen arms could then be used for high upside pieces

Red Sox have said Moncada, Benintendi, Devers and Kopech are off-limits.

Where did you hear that? I have little doubt Moncada is untouchable, but I never heard that the rest are, especially when they just dealt Espinoza who would be at the high end of that group.

If so, that's too much top talent off the table for them to be serious contenders for Lucroy.
