Quinnipiac comes back from down to goals to beat the gophers in overtime in the national championship game.

Still no Big ten team to win a national championship since its inception

Minnesota really laid back in the 2nd half of that game.  That was so odd.

Yea they really got dominated once they went up by 2. Kind of surprising considering all the high end talent they put on the ice.

Toronto-Boston is looking likely which is going to be fantastic hockey.

NY/NJ is the series that looks most likely to go 7. Seattle-Colorado possibly as well, although Seattle has outplayed the Avalanche and should (hopefully, pretty please) advance.

Life, taxes, and the Minnesota Wild choking in yet another first round series. It is uncanny. 😔

I thought the Wild looked like the better team in games 1-4.  Games 5 and 6 though...yeesh.  Kaprizov...where are you?

Yeah, it's hard to tell - he did only just return from a serious leg injury like a week or so before the regular season ended. He might have still been struggling with injury. BUT, the first round exits is literally what the Wild do. It just stinks.😂

Good point on the injury.  Had forgotten about that.

As a Kraken fan I wasn’t surprised with that result, Dallas was the better team this year and that carried over into the playoffs. And then you throw in that questionable goalie swap after game 1 and that was the series.

We’re underdogs again against the Stars but I think we’ll manage to make it a long series, especially if Grubauer can stay hot in net. It sure seems to be setting up for Edmonton to take the west but Vegas seems to be peaking at the right time and I never trust the Oilers’ defense and goaltending.

Yea - the goalie swap was so odd.

4 ginos for Pavelski last night.  Wow.

Sweet Bedard to the Blackhawks!!!!

It sucks that Chicago got him but I hate that any of these teams get rewarded for tanking. He should go to one of the teams that is trying but narrowly missed the playoffs like Buffalo or Ottawa.

They could just make the odds 1/16 for each of the 16 teams that miss the playoffs. Nobody would purposely miss the playoffs for 6% odds of winning the #1 pick.

The Blackhawks have been stuck in salary cap jail for awhile now.  It is not like they could have tried to sign a free agent this past off season to try and win.  They tried that the year before and it blew up in their face.  This was just a bad aging team that they now have all of their bad contracts for the most part over with.

The annoying thing to me is the sexual assault scandal that had basically 0 consequence.  They were fined 2 mill, but they were able to sell 3 million in season tickets after they got the number 1 pick.

In truth, this years first round pick should have been taken away.

Any chance Milwaukee gets a team?

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

No the NHL wants to keep the team in AZ.  If they move it would be to Salt Lake City or Austin.

I thought that Houston was a possibility...the largest US market without the NHL.  I've not seen Austin in a lot of reports.  Is it because it's growing rapidly?

As much as I'd like to see a hometown team, we have as much of a chance as Quebec City which, despite what the traditionalists and Canadians want, will be ignored by Bettman.

If Quebec somehow gets a team back, they will be the second smallest metro area with a team in the four major North American sports...only larger than Green Bay!

It sounds like they didn’t have a backup plan if they lost the Tempe vote. I suspect they will be playing at ASU again in 2023-24 while they figure this out. Most people seem to think that it’s over for Phoenix which is a real shame but ultimately a consequence of having a series of incompetent owners. Even the lowly Florida Panthers have managed to turn things around after getting competent ownership.
