Who ready for Timmy

Being reported that he will be throwing for teams next week...from the photo that surfaced a couple of months ago, looks ripped and in excellent condition... we need to give him a look

Would be cool to see him make a comeback. It's not unheard of, Bartolo was washed up for a few years before reestablishing himself.

Probably better suited to a fully rebuilding team though.

He didn't pitch last year, his last comeback attempt with the Angels in 2016 was a disaster, he's 33 and it was 7 years ago that he last pitched effectively.

He really isn't anything more than a name at this point.

I mean, what does a minor league contract hurt? If they think he has something left (doubtful) but no way I give him a major league deal.
but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

Looking back at his stats, it's unbelievable how quickly he went from Cy Young-caliber to bad during his hypothetical prime. I'm always fine with nearly anyone on a minor league deal or split contract, but he'd need to show something good in a session to make me want a ML deal.

I am absolutely fascinated by his decline. It just seems so bizarre to me.

I agree. I also think they should go look. Because at this point what do you lose?

Considering how many rocks they are turning over this offseason in an attempt to acquire starting pitching depth, I can say with 99.9% certainty that the Brewers will have someone at this showcase.

At this point Lincecum would be virtually useless to us. He may have skipped a year but it doesnt mean his previous 5 were all that great for a track record. Unless the Brewers are looking to sell more sherseys Id say Hard Pass.

There is zero harm attending the workout, watching & evaluating.

From there - make a pure baseball decision.

If not, move along.

If he can help, can it be done at a reasonable contract? Other factors/ variables would need to be considered as well.

Not saying the Brewers should be in front of everyone & signing him. Just do the due diligence.

Along with every other team, in all likelihood... :laughing

Here's a question. How many guys were great, good, or even acceptable, showed a series of several seasons of decline, and then showed a sudden bounce-back? I know the popular refrain is "bring him in on a minor league deal and see if he has regained his form", but can someone give a ballpark estimate of how often a player "bounces back" once they hit the downturn/decline phase of their careers?

Lincecum is probably done. Even a small amount of resources or roster spot spent on a guy like this is (IMO) a roster spot and resources that could be spent on a guy that isn't already burnt out.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Yankees and Brewers will be at Tim Lincecum's showcase on Thursday in Seattle.

Add them to a list that includes (so far) the Giants and Padres. Lincecum last pitched in 2016 with the Angels, putting up an ugly 9.16 ERA over nine starts. He's reportedly gotten himself in better shape and is throwing harder in workouts this offseason.

Related: Brewers, Yankees

I just don't see it... Would he be a pull pen option, starter, long relief? I'm with RoCo, why bother?

You bother because you pursue every avenue to strengthen your team, and we're likely talking about a minor league deal with a spring training invite and opt-out clause. Not a risk at all. It isn't like there are a ton of pitchers beating down the door, either. Could make for a pretty dang cool story.

If he is good enough at his try-out, I doubt we will be his choice...

Someone offered Timmy a guaranteed MLB contract.

Perhaps the Angels are giving him another chance?
