Can't really blame him for taking those first two pitches, they had pop up written all over them and could've been balls. Sometimes the other guys make good plays too, not everything has to be terrible. He did nothing stupid, the guy made two great pitches. He took his hack at the last pitch that was a strike. IT's baseball, you're going to get out 65 % of the time

Yeah Maddon generally managed that well. CC won't PH Moose/Thames/Granderson for the top of the order...use his best lefty against the bottom and strop or another RH against the top. Smart move, i believe there's a saying about a broken clock being right twice a day...

Yeah there was no one on the bench really worth a damn at the plate. Pina, Saladino, Broxton, or Nottingham. Smart move by Maddon to avoid Moose with the bases loaded.

 

Probably should have taken a shot with him regardless. Pina doesn't even have platoon splits.
