He just completed his 2nd big league no-hitter. Always liked him as a Brewer, and loved his story of being drafted at a late age and advancing quickly. Forgot how much I loved his arsenal until watching the last few innings tonight. What a curve!

Yelich/Hader/Houser is worth Fiers and Gomez... but when Fiers was avaiolable as a free agent he was someone I'd have brought in.

The Brewers did really well in that deal, even if you take Hader out.

Kind of like Peralta. Fiers has carved out a nice career as a 4th-5th starter and has a ring. He's been pretty durable too and a good guy who's easy to root for.

I love guys like Mike Fiers. He's the anti Hall of famer---has tremendous and memorable small moments in his career, but overall is just a guy. It's so easy to cheer on guys like this. Scooter gennet's four homer game was a similar deal. It's also cool that both of these guys were drafted deep in the 2009 draft, which on the surface looked like a poor draft. Add in Khris davis, and 2009 was actually a great draft, once you ignore than no one picked in the first 6 rounds even came close to panning out.

He went from a massive car accident and being lucky to be alive, and going through major rehab as a result to a Major League pitcher in just 4 years. It's really an incredible journey.

It's sort of ironic for a team that has only developed a half dozen quality starting pitchers in the last 30 years to have traded one of them away who subsequently goes on to through 2 no hitters. (Then again, Fiers is a fly-ball pitcher, which is not in vogue ).
