Why didn't the Cardinals want Wong again?

*shrug*???!!??

I think because they liked Tommy Edmand……who was much cheaper as well.

meanwhile they're giving 10 million dollar extensions to a 40 year old catcher.

I'm not arguing that Edman isn't a decent player, and cheap, at that, but Wong is very, very consistently 3 WAR per 150 games, and at his reasonable price, I'd think a team with their resources would find a way to keep Wong, and play Edman somewhere.

I have the feeling we're going to get some nice value out of JBJ yet this year. He's a veteran with a lot of playoff experience ... who has performed well in the postseason. A guy with his defensive skills, speed, baserunning and baseball smarts is extremely valuable in the playoffs.

I hope so. It’s painful to watch him at the plate and his lack of plate discipline really stands out on this patient Brewers team.

Sure is a far cry from the April lineups that featured JBJ, Shaw, Hiura and Arcia, along with an impatient Yelich and ice cold Garcia.

Excellent point. It’s night and day.

Must be the 4th or 5th time they’ve pulled off a “win of the year” type game. Second time in a week.

Love a stress-free save.

Could use a big performance from Woody tomorrow. Williams and Hader especially have had a lot of usage. Strickland too. Would love to see Woody, Cousins, Box. Or just win 12-4.

Yeah. This one and the second game vs. STL felt like gut-punch games for the Central opponents.

Such a big W to come back and win this game at the start of a series - takes away the threat of a worrying (but not debilitating) sweep and really gives the Brewers a chance to curbstomp any hopes of a Reds push to winning the division on their end.

Bradley is an expensive Keon Broxton.

Wong, on the other hand, was a brilliant acquisition.

Ehh, win some, lose some. Can't win the games you don't play, though.

Next year Bradley will be Narvaez and Garcia as we are off defending our Wild Card banner and World Series trophy.

Wouldn't shock me at all if JBJ has a 5 WAR season in 2022. Disappointing season from him so far, but some of that inconsistency was built into the price.

Willy Adames has dealt with the quad since St. Louis. It's not serious, Craig Counsell said, but it's been an issue every day. Going to be cautious with him. He's out tomorrow.

"It's just to the point where it's not worth taking a risk on it," Counsell said.

Wonder if we might see another bench player come up from Nashville before tomorrow's game? Pretty tough with a super short bench. Of what they have available on the 40-man, Lopes or Ray make some sense. If they add a player to the 40-man, Dahl has been incredibly hot since he arrived in Nashville.

Holy crap. A guy falls asleep on accident and wakes up to this! Hell yeah!

I did the same exact thing!

Yeah, I went to bed after the 6th. Good to read about a success on BrewCrewBall.

Seems to be a habit lately.

Questions are a burden.   And answers a prison for one's self.
