I'm thinking a 2-2 split would be a pretty good result on this 4 game road set against the Giants.

With Burnes starting, tonight's game would be a good one to take. In addition, all reliever's should be available.

Yeah with Gausman and Webb going against Anderson and Lauer in the final 2 games I’d be very happy with 2-2.

+1. Tonight is really the key. Not an easy matchup. But one that swings in the Brewers favor.

I know it would be mathematically tuff for the Reds to get back into things. However, I don't want to have to sweat things out and win a bunch down the stretch.

Would much rather clinch the division early and line up the pitching matchups for the playoffs.

The real question is what inning I will go to bed in?

If I make it to 10:30pm it will be a miracle.

I expect to be up 17-0 by then so I can sleep well

Yea I think 2-2 is kind of ideal. We don't 1-3 because it's a bad thing for the brewers to not do well vs a contender, and just in general anytime to lose 3/4, especially after losing to Was this weekend. But, kind of don't want to sweep them or 3-1 as you want SF to hold on vs LAD.

Are we seriously hoping for Brewers losses now because we're afraid of the Dodgers. Screw that, sweep the Giants and go for the best record in the league. If we have to play the Dodgers round 1, then lets sweep them too.

Bingo.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Bingo.

Coach Cooper would approve.

But, yes I would much prefer Dodgers are WC. Keep in mind that also makes sure LAD are the #1 seed for home field. I believe us as 2 seed would get homefield even without a better record vs LAD (could be wrong on that though).

Really what does it matter what we are hoping, the players are highly competitive and are motivated to win. I want the Brewers to finish second in the NL but what I want has no bearing on anything the Brewers do. I won't even have a rooting interest for these games as I will be sleeping when they are going on.

I don’t think anyone is afraid……..just want the most advantageous path possible…….Dodgers will be a very difficult team to beat……especially since they can throw 2 good lefties against us along with Scherzer and Buehler.

Braves are playing great now too…….no matter what it’s going to be difficult but I’d prefer only to have to beat 1 of the Dodgers or the Giants……beating both will be very tough.

Sweeping them isn’t even in my thought process……we are good……but so are both of those teams…..don’t see a sweep happening……

Respecting an opponent is not the same thing as being afraid of them.

What I’m confused on is why the league leading Giants aren’t as scary? Is name recognition the reason?

There both scary to me……but the starters of the Dodgers make me want to avoid them a little more.

Fwiw I’m sure the Dodgers or Giants aren’t looking forward to facing our top 3 guys either.

Adames still not ready to return to the field…….hopefully tomorrow

The Reds slowing down over the last 20 games (just 10-10) can partly be attributed to Joey Votto slowing way down. Over the last 15 games his ops is under . 700 (just .684)

Holy crap. Cueto and Alex wood just put on dl

So giants next two starters against us are out. Wow

That explains the Quintana pick up. I guess we get to get dominated by a crappy lefty instead of whooping Cueto.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

We faced Quintana many times as a Cub and it feels like we have about 6 career hits off him. :laughing

I think I might have rather faced their regulars.
