Random thoughts that are pointless and too dumb to say anywhere else thread ~ 2022 ~

Is Craigslist no longer the place to go to sell relatively small used items cheap? I've had a 5-year-old working cable modem w/wi-fi router on there for 3 weeks for $2 and only one inquiry. Same w/a clay pottery kit that retails for $65.

Is it really worth taking your time for $2 items? I'd just donate them and use it as a tax write-off.

I contacted a place that takes used computers/equipment and donates them to needy families/schools/shelters, but they wanted me to mail it to them at my expense and then write off the cost of postage. There's another place here, but limited hours and not nearby.

And if I'm selling it at such a low price, aren't I helping someone else by essentially giving it to them?

I wonder if the $2 throws people off? Maybe giving it away for free or jacking the price up would work better. At $2 people might think it's poor quality. I dunno...people are weird.

Has anyone ever actually written down or in any way saved a confirmation code after they ordered or payed for something?

Nope, it is usually sent to you via email anyway..

I bet my mother does for the two things she buys online every year.

Yes. But I have no idea why.

Depends what it is. I will screenshot it on my phone for certain things that can be weird on emailing it…or if I don’t know if it will actually email it. It can be helpful during Black Friday when orders can get really messed up etc.

I called my work's IT support and they opened a ticket for me. The person says, "We will email you the number, but would you like to write down the ticket number?" It was like I couldn't say no... so I wrote it down. *facepalm*

Yes because probably 20 years ago I got burned by not having one so I still make sure I write it down (rare because that means I ordered over the phone) or keep the email until I receive the product and know I won't return it.

I just watched a couple episodes of Hoarders and now have an unstoppable urge to clean everything in my house.

Years ago, my SO went through a brief phase of watching Hoarders and I had to walk out of the room when he did because I'd want to go straighten up everything in my life. And I'm already pretty organized.

It did not help me that at the time, Hoarders aired at 9:00 PM our time. Not relaxing before bed.

They are just being polite if they ask if you want to write it down. The only reason to write it down is, well if the ticketing system is even halfway decent they can easily look up of you have a ticket. They could also email your manager if for some reason you called because your email was the issue.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Yes...I know...and still felt the need to write it down. :laughing

I have a brother who has terminal cancer so they threw a birthday party for him on Saturday. That mayor of Jefferson showed up gave Bob a plaque and declared Monday- Bob's actual birthday- Bob day in town. Bob is special needs and never really got a lot of attention so the gesture is even more significant. Big time salute to the kindness shown him.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Peace to Bob on Bob Day from MN!

It's a shame that if you don't get hurt it's not terribly difficult to get away with drunk driving. Dude crashed in my front yard around midnight last night and then he took off running. Beer and whiskey in the vehicle and on a suspended license. He ran into the woods nearby, called a buddy to pick him up and that was that. I even know the vehicle that picked him up, but of course knowing something and proving it in court are two very different things. Today he can just report the vehicle stolen and that's that.

I hope you at least give the cops a statement...

I am the cops so I'm finishing my report now. My front yard is within my jurisdiction and he ran out of it, but at least in my state if a crime happens in your jurisdiction you're justified to pursue out of it. He ran into the woods not 50 yards past the vehicle but ain't no way I'm going into the woods by myself to search for someone. Had a boss nearly get killed doing that once. As first on scene I was more interested in making sure there wasn't anyone hurt inside the vehicle and that it wasn't leaking gas and about to catch on fire.
