The JS had a rookie mini camp article that stated Christian Watson had some drops over the weekend. Not exactly the type of news we're hoping to hear.

He was a 22-year-old in his first ever professional experience after being drafted a week earlier. Don't you think cutting the guy a bit of slack might be the appropriate avenue? Sheesh.

I rate rookie mini camp information just below predicting health based on the site and smell of excrement.

You realize people actually do that, right?

Though, I agree with your assessment of rookie mini camp...

I am going to predict that Doubs has more receptions than Watson on the season.  I'm a bit more 50/50 on who has more more yards and TDs.

While clearly Watson has the upside to be better.  I think Doubs is more polished to get more early looks. Watson just didn't have the route tree experience that Doubs has.

  • 2011: Cobb: 25 receptions/375 yards/1 TD in his rookie year (Nelson, Jennings, Jones, Driver on the WR depth chart)
  • 2014: Adams: 38/446/3 (Nelson, Cobb, Adams)
  • 2015: Ty Montgomery: 15/136/2 (Cobb, Adams, Jones)
  • 2018: MVS 38/581/2. (Adams, Cobb)
  • 2018: EQS: 21/328/0 (Adams, Cobb)
  • 2021: Amari Rodgers: 20/166/0 (Adams, Lazard, Cobb, MVS)

With a depth chart of Watkins, Cobb, Lazard, and Rodger (so far) in 2022, I think both WRs could put up 30-40 receptions and 400-500 yards.

Best case scenario has Watson put up MVS numbers (38/581) and Doubs at Adams numbers (38/466).  But I have feeling Watson stuggles a bit more than Doubs with the full playbook; limiting his looks. He'll be the gadget guys and flashy distraction running deep routes while Doubs (and others) get the ball on the underneath routes. I'd guess Watson gives up an EQS-like start (21/328), but with a couple TDs.

Read up on JaMarr Chase's pre season.

Assuming the schedule leaks are true, no bye week after the London game is a bit surprising (insert joke about playing the Jets being like a bye).  Finishing with 3 of 4 at home is always nice.

I think it is very possible that they aren't done adding to the WR room yet. Vets like Julio Jones, Jarvis Landry (though being a slot guy he isn't a great fit) and OBJ (depending on where he is recovery-wise) make sense as veteran stopgaps as the rookies come into form. It is likely that there will be some veteran WR cuts or guys on the bubble that get dealt at the end of camp too.

very much agree that there's going to be another veteran WR added to the mix....and Julio Jones would be a great fit here on a prove-it 1 year deal like Watkins, plus he's got familiarity with MLF's system from back in ATL.  OBJ they can probably wait to sign, as I'd imagine his ACL wouldn't be ready for game action until Nov/Dec at the earliest - I can see him signing late with a contender as another audition for a multiyear deal next offseason.  plus, OBJ picked the Rams over GB last year, so I don't see him as a great fit for what this year's Packers team needs - one more veteran WR that could go off if healthy.

Hot take.  The nfl schedule release is not an "event" and I don't get why people care enough for it to be televised.

i don't get it either. I could see if there was nothing going on but there is NHL and NBA playoffs and MLB is in full swing. Isn't it enough to see the schedule this evening online? only proves NFL is king and the only league that could get away with this.

Jerry Jeudy is under arrest.

Well I was one who would have been happy trading Rodgers to the Broncos for a draft pick haul + players, but I believe many scenarios had Jerry Jeudy coming to the Packers. Given that he now has some legal troubles he might be available for a conditional 8th round pick, but I doubt the the Packers would want him now. If it isn't a serious issue, maybe they could buy low.

I doubt it. He is a critical piece for the Broncos going forward and his charge was "only" a level 2 misdemeanor.  Max penalty is $1,000 and up to 1 year in jail.  I don't see how he gets jail time as first offender unless something awful comes out.  "The woman involved accused Jeudy of withholding medical records, her wallet and the baby’s car seat, Klis tweets.". I'm not sure much will come of this.

I like the Packers schedule particularly the non divisional opponents. Some really interesting matchups.

Gold package gets Patriots and Titans, nice, probably the two most attractive games besides the Cowboys.  Gold had the Rams game last year, so I'm fine with not getting them this year.

Do you feel the titans game being a Thursday night game sucks for the gold package people?

If they're coming from Milwaukee, yeah, it's a bit of a pain, especially if they don't have the luxury to take a day or two off from work.  I'm only about a half hour from Green Bay so it's not as big of deal for me.

They only play at noon 5 times the whole season.  That seems odd to me.  I would guess in most years over half are noon starts.

Last two years they only played 5 games each with a noon start.  Don’t know if any of those were flexed to a later start though.

In 2019 it looks like they played 7 noon games.

There's a chance I may be able to watch every game.  They never play the Bears at the same time on the same network.  There are a two instances where the Packers have the 3:25PM game after a Bears game at noon, which may not get shown if the Bears aren't the national game.  But I should be able to watch 15 of the 17 games.

Packers schedule not looking so good according to one metric:

Sounds like a Jaire extension getting wrapped up in short order....will make him highest paid DB in the league while freeing up more cap space - pending announcement of another veteran WR in 3....2....
