To put this into perspective, here’s how the Brewers 26-21 record against the Pirates, Cubs, Reds, and Nats compares to the rest of the NL playoff contenders:

Cardinals 24-11 (they have a lot more games remaining against those teams than the Brewers; that’s going to make it hard for the Brewers to get help down the stretch. They have to start winning well over half their games to keep pace and catch up.

Dodgers 16-8. Despite the incongruous 1-5 record against the Pirates, they made up for it by going 7-0 against both the Cubs and Reds. When you’re cruising to a division title and best record in the league like they are, you can afford to take a series off once in awhile. The Brewers don’t have that luxury.

Phillies. 16-5

Mets 18-5

Braves 21-9

Padres 17-5.

So, yeah, the Brewers’ failure to dominate the bottom feeders like they did last year may be what keeps them out of the playoffs this year.

Dominate the bad teams and go .500 or so against the other playoff teams is the perfect formula.

Our review team is very good.  Seems other teams are always wasting time with pointless reviews.  They neither waste time nor leave clear incorrect calls on the table.

Is the infield grass 6 inches deep today? Many IF hits.

On one Ashby didn’t get to first quick enough. Another was hit up the middle and Adames made a diving stop to technically make it an infield hit. One was a swinging bunt, the kind of hit you can get occasionally if you don’t strike out.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I'd been relying on you guys and the ESPN play by play.  ESPN still shows that Happ reached, but I gather that call was overturned. Time to turn on the radio.

It’s so flippin’ irritating that the Brewers are playing so many day games while at a cabin in northern Wisconsin so I’m blacked out.

Blame the Scrubs. They sure do love grasping to tradition.

I see hader walked in the winning run last night

Although I get no joy from Hader doing poorly, he did (though he did not get the L). image.png.19638ae57a15ad42908b0c1d1a18aad5.png

Stearns playing 3d chess.    Hader going to put the brewers in the playoffs one way or another

If you wanna take a look at the end of the game thread from yesterday, you'll see that this chain of events was a point of contention lol

23-18 against those teams is not good enough for a team that wants to make the playoffs. Throw in 3-3 against the Nationals and they are losing significant ground against other playoff contenders.

Do you believe that 23-18 is “handling” those three teams?

23-18 is .560 baseball. I don't know what more anyone can realistically expect? Maybe you think they should be pounding those teams at a .750 clip?

Maybe if the Brewers played better against non-door mats like the Giants (1-4), Phillies (2-4) etc?

You didn’t specify which team…

I’m just done with Ashby this year.    He can never hold a lead.    Just pitch someone else.     Maybe he can help in the bullpen

its just so tiring
