I remember sitting a row behind BJ Surhoff’s family when he got his first hit in the second game of the 1987 season. That was pretty cool.

His Dad passed away from a heart attack about 2 weeks later.

I had a similar experience as the Atlanta Falcons were killing my Saints (Abomination!)  Their #45 -a guy from New Orleans-  was having a great game, INT, big plays, etc., We happened to be sitting in front of his family,  So it was some consolation to share their joy at seeing their son/brother/nephew/cousin/grandson having a great day. (But losing to Atlanta always $uk$.)

Also worth noting the spike Yelich might get in his stats from the banning of the shift next year...

Banning the shift is total absolutely totally completely 100% garbage. Really. Let the game evolve more naturally.

NOW back to this  game:  RBI Kestie!

I agree with this. Hit them where they ain't I say.

Good execution of those skills like hitting the other way, laying down bunts, etc., would help eliminate - or greatly reduce - the shift on its own.

This has been a HUGE failure by Counsell, and looking back, I think it cost this team the 2018 NLCS.

Defensive miscue and a HR and it’s white knuckle time.

I don't think it was a defensive miscue. Nothing they could do about that one.

Here we go again.
Don’t blow this, bullpen.

Boxberger was there in plenty of time to pick up the ball and take it to the bag himself. But either Tellez called him off or he peeled off and Tellez didn’t get to the ball fast enough to make the tag. A ball hit that close to the first base bag has to be turned into an out.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Williams really needs to nail this down, or my confidence in him is irrevocably shot.

Why doesn't Yelich ring the bell when he gets a HR, it's happened the last 2 times, maybe more that I haven't noticed. Seems kinda arrogant to me.

A needed win and series win.

Now have to take it to the Pirates.
