That's what you need to do. Who knew that catchers were capable of actually contributing on offense.

Narvaez is productive if it's the first 2 months of an odd year.

Generally, in the major leagues, you actually have to produce. We're in the stretch run here and Counsell can't afford to wait for Hiura's bat to heat up.

Your drum beating on Hiura is beyond boring.

But it's ok for CC to wait for McCutchen to heat up?

*rolling eyes*

I mean, every single time someone mentions Hiura, you go into the same old thing, over and over and over and over and over.  We all know where you stand on Hiura, and you don't need to make the same comment every single time when his name is mentioned.  we get it.

And yours (and Brewers888's) persistent love fest for Hiura, a guy who has statistically sucked since his rookie year, is no less perplexing? McCutchen has actually demonstrated an ability to make contact this month. Hiura has not. .723 OPS in September vs. .402. Seems pretty clear to me.

I've stated this before, but there's a difference between a player whose spot is relatively established and one who has sucked for a couple years now....

Of course Hiura hasn't actually sucked this year, relative to the Brewers' options.

I have a little sympathy for Reds fans.  They still have decent attendance considering half their roster has no business playing in the majors.  I've never seen so many 30+ year old players with 100 PA or 50 IP in their entire major league career.

maybe that's Hiura's prolem.  He doesn't suck enough.

Milwaukee needs pitchers coming off the IL to be perfect as their season & playoff hopes slowly slip away … truly a disappointing year for Brewers fans

It would take a miracle for us to sneak in to the final wild card spot

One thing for sure - we must beat these hapless Reds to have a glimmer of hope after this weekend

I hear what you saying but even if we squeak in the last WC spot we won't do much anyway.

Hiura has been fine this year.   Not a superstar but he’s done a good job.    I think he’s been treated like crap when you watch the other garbage that goes up to the plate regularly for this team.    And he’s a good guy and I’ve been rooting for him

but he hasn’t done much this month either.

I really wish they would work more on flattening out his swing this off-season.   There is a hitter in there.    But our philosophy on hitting ****** sucks

They also have multiple World Series titles within the last 52 years, so yes, no sympathy at all.

Of course, in a significantly smaller sample size and with a 42% K rate...

Re. Hiura, a lot of you were saying, "Play him while he's hot despite the high K rate." Well, he's now ice-cold, so why the fuss when McCutchen has at least been league average lately.??

That's why I have a "little" sympathy.  If they were Cleveland and had this abysmal roster I would have a LOT of sympathy for them even though the Guardians attendance is worse than Cinci and the Guardians are in first place.

Renfroe has had a couple of scorching hot streaks, but when he goes into a slump he looks totally lost.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Cleveland will never receive any sympathy from me since the allowed the Cubs to win a World Series.

I don't think anyone who wants Hiura to play more gives a crap about his K% because it LITERALLY has no effect on any measurement of production.

It does though.   Especially for him.   He hits the ball hard.      If he could just make more contact he would be a top hitter on this team.     He should be trying to hit the top half of the ball instead of the bottom half.     He would be better off

his swing has serious pop and cutting down on k s.    Wouldn’t hinder that

and here we go again...

Just quit, we all know where you stand on Hiura.

It's ridiculous to say anyone has a love fest for Hiura.  All I wanted (and the others that have been more positive about his season) was a fair shot for him to contribute.  You keep going back to the 2 weeks he had to prove himself.  2 weeks isn't long enough, it just isn't.  You, with your vast knowledge of every single topic on this site, should know better.

are you suggesting there's quid pro quo going on when CC makes out his lineup card?

and how often does he then get ignored for 9 or 10 games?  Same thing with McCutchen, Rowdy, Adames, Yelich, Urias, and everyone else not named Keston Hiura.

When we have an entire roster of players who go ice cold for long periods of time, and only one is singled out and not allowed to play, it just doesn't make any sense.

so wait. do stats matter to you or not? You discount that he's done better in a "significantly smaller sample size,"  than the full-time players, and you keep harping that he's gone cold over his last 36 ABs, which is a minuscule sample size.
Get real.
