I’m still aghast that cc didn’t take peralta out after that walk.

but on to the next game.    That was a huge chance.     Huge.

Maybe we should get a new CC to manage this team that understands pitchers and pitching situations better?

How about CC Sabathia as the new manager!?!?

Phillies have to lose both today otherwise it doesn’t look promising for a playoff spot.  Last night was a must win if the Phillies sweep today it is basically over.  The Brewers would have to basically win out the rest of the way and the Phillies only winning 2 or 3 of their remaining 5 games.

With a sweep and a Brewers loss, the Phillies may just put the Brewers and their fans out of their misery tonight.

Phillies will split today, AND the Brewers will win tonight!

This is the day; the race gets real tight!

Nerves will fray, BUT the Brewers are gonna' be alright!

Not really. A Phillies loss tonight and a Brewers win puts us tied and we would only need to make up one more game with them finishing against the Astros.

Phillies win their first game over the Nats 5-1 to cut their magic number to eliminate the Brewers to 5. There is a good chance that tonight’s game will be rained out, so at least they got one of the 4 games in.

The Phillies are now 14-2 against the Nats for the season. Going back to last year they have won 22 of the last 24 against the Nats. Expecting much, if any, help  from the Nats is really an act of desperation.

When we do the post mortem on the Brewers season, I think we will be looking at these last 4 games as the last real chance to grab the last playoff spot. While the Phillies lost 4 in a row the Brewers were only able to pick up one game, largely because the offense went dormant.

I think it is now at the point where the Brewers really have to win out and hope for the Phillies to lose 2 of their remaining 6.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Don't want to derail the game thread too much but just wanted to send out my best wishes to anyone who lives or has family in southwest Florida after the hurricane did so much damage. I believe user @Puggermay have mentioned living in Naples so just wanted to send best wishes out to you. Personally I have family in Ft Myers and Naples and things are not good at all.

As disappointing as this season has been and I for one have not enjoyed it at all its still Brewers baseball and we will all miss watching these games when the season ends. Hopefully the team pulls off a miracle and makes the playoffs but if not there is always next season which hopefully is a more enjoyable season for us all. Go Brewers!

If they fall short, Thursday's game should be looked at as the last of many chances. The 4-0 lead in game 2 vs NYM, the 6-1 lead late at Colorado, Haders' late meltdown in SF. Looking at the big picture as this is really a "big picture" kinda team when they've been successful. That's pitching & defense. Neither has been at the level we're used to, and the hitting hasn't been able to make up for it.

Don't forget when we lost 6-5 to the Cubs on 8/20 after we had taken the lead back not once, not twice, but three times ... and still managed to blow it.

Does this insanity ever end?

I don't think any one of the remaining games is a must win, they ALL are must win.  Not sure a 6-game season ending winning streak is in this team, but we will see.

That’s why I said the LAST real chance. There are so many games and series that could be pointed to, including getting swept by the Phillies in  June. The first game of that series marked the end of Hader’s scoreless streak and the beginning of the end of his place as the Brewers dominating closer.

But, despite all of those pratfalls the Brewers could have put themselves back into a good position with wins last night and Sunday against the Reds. Now they are still begging for help while showing no signs that they are capable of stringing together 6 wins in a row.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
