Three-way trade with A's, Braves; Brewers get William Contreras

I love that Arnold fleeced the Braves.  They've had it coming for 57 years.

It took Arnold less than 6 months to make a more impressive deal than any in the entire Stearns tenure.

The Yelich deal says hello...On paper this is a great deal but I would not downgrade what Stearns did in his tenure as GM

Payamps looks like he should be on the 26 man roster O.D. and he won't be a FA until 2027.
and Yeager has a chance to have a ML career as a reliever as well.

Even if Yelich continues to be overpaid, that deal was insanely good for us. 4 lottery tickets that turned out to be nothing for 2 years of an MVP level bat.

Come on, it’s not like they traded for Mickey Mantle. There’s not a team out there that wouldn’t have the other Contreras brother’s production, so it’s definitely adding a promising player to a position of need but not some franchise altering trade

Worry about that then but Contreras could always be moved with control after 2025 if Quero is worthy.

Exactly. This is set up for a huge return for the Crew in 2025-2026. See what the Crew got for Lucroy.

It hasn't been brought up but the 2 others are strong pieces as well.

Payamps had a 3.23 ERA in the bigs with Oak/KC was worth 1.1 WAR in 55 innings. 95 fb, 82 sl, 89 ch

Yeager had a 3.1 Era in A+,AA. With 81 ks in 52 innings (32 bb). I can't find a scouting report but a youtube video had him throwing 97 of a mound and 104 with a running start into a screen, nice looking breaking pitch as well.

Amazing

Yeager only has to improve his control to be a ML pitcher. Like a hundred other guys, but maybe he's one of the ones to do it.

I'd guess that almost every  team would rather have our Contreras on his contract than the other Contreras on his contract. Maybe even the Cardinals.

This is an incredible deal.  When it first came down and eventually Ruiz’s name got out my first thought was ok what else and nothing else ever came and I’m stunned.

Whoa. If trwi7 likes it, it must be good. I haven't seen one positive comment come from this man's keyboard, ever.

This might literally be the first trade the brewers have made that you've liked, at least publicly/on these forums.

I wasn't here then, but not even the Yelich trade??

I've been saying since day one when we acquired Ruiz, the dude is an awesome prospect and is super undervalued. Elite prospect. Wasn't getting nearly enough love on this site, like at all.

I'll join the consensus in being completely stunned by the trade. Personally, I have Ruiz valued at about $15 million but I don't have a lot of faith that he will justify even that number. I was always hoping he would get traded as opposed to the other OFers we have in the organization so I'm extremely happy by the move.

Contreras has played just five career games against the Brewers (four of them at AmFamField), and in those 21 plate appearances he has a line of .333 BA / .524 OBP / 1.391 OPS. Meaningless small sample, but still a little awesome as well.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Seems like a really nice use of an extra asset (Ruiz) to fill a coupe of areas of need (catcher and reliever). And Contreras' right handed bat is a nice addition.

I liked Ruiz's from the standpoint of his right handed bat and speed. He had shown the ability to pound right handers in the minors - so he might have been a nice platoon bat and reserve defensive player. But we got a catcher for him. So good for us.

I'm quite confident he did not like it. i actually was against that trade at the time, it wasn't the slam dunk this one is.

This is so obvious that I can't believe it had to be said.
