When healthy, Wade Miley has been an above average to very good starting pitcher the last several years. The nagging-type injuries have been what has held him back. But by all accounts, he made it through Spring Training fine, and is entering the season in good health. He's a veteran, stabilizing presence. Not a bad guy at all to have as a 5th starter.

Early in the season is a great time to face these aces, so I'm curious to see this and think we have more than a punter's chance for sure, particularly if we can keep the ball in play, and make havoc on the bases

Miley is a solid player, and may need a little luck, but that Turang/Adames link looks really impressive, hoping Miley can keep the ball down and give us some plays

No, not at all. If the Brewers can get over 100 healthy innings out of Miley, that contract will probably look quite nice.

The bullpen is well rested going into this one and they have a day off Thursday. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Miley have a pretty short leash tonight

The Mets roster is constructed very nicely for platoons. It's nice when you can spend a gazillion dollars on payroll. This is a very difficult matchup for Miley on paper and I kinda hope to get like 4 innings of 2 run ball out of him. Baseball isn't played on paper though so we can certainly hope Miley is real sharp and can hang with Scherzer for a bit...or maybe the offense gets so hot that even Scherzer gets hit around a bit.

In limited at bats Voit is hitting .375 against Max ... I wonder if he gets his first start today and gives Rowdy a minute to breathe. Although I understand the LH/RHP thing and having it only be about 15 tough at bats thus far..

Well our #5 vs their #1 who's already pitched in a game this season.  When was last game in ST Miley pitched? Let's see some good ABs like so many yesterday and walk away with feeling good no matter the game result. There are a few HR hitters of last season due for 1.

No surprises in the Brewers lineup.

Yelich 7

Winker DH

Adames 6

Tellez 3

Anderson 5

Mitchell 8

Caratini 2

Turang 4

Wiemer 9

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Makes sense to start Caritini today so Bill can start vs the lefty tomorrow..

I was bracing myself for Miller or Brosseau at 3B, with Anderson in RF. But hey, now we get to see Wiemer vs, Scherzer, Part I.

Caratini also has smashed Scherzer in his career. 1.200 OPS in 15 PA vs Scherzer with only 2 SO.

Another big hit from Anderson.

Scherzer is the kind of pitcher who can be most vulnerable early and letting him off the hook would have hurt.

Great at-bat from Wiemer. Very promising to see him laying off the low and outside sliders.

That has got to be a major part of his scouting report because it seems like that's half of what pitchers throw against him.

It’s fun to be in the position we are now, where if somebody really struggles badly there are plans b, c, and d behind almost every major league player. Of course some are more exciting than others, but still I can’t recall a time we were so balanced.
