LOL Cardinals starting pitching

For all of the laughing about the Cardinals pitching, coming into tonight they were about average in runs allowed but below average in runs scored. Their offense has not been producing as expected.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

That home run is serviceable.

But he didn’t pull the ball.

"LOL Cardinals starting pitching". Cardinals starting pitching: 5.06 ERA (22nd in MLB)....Not including tonight's blowup start from Montgomery.

Nobody at the game, everyone in Seattle is watching the Kraken tonight.

I mean, that's fair, if only because Kraken is perhaps the best name in sports. I saw that name and logo and was consumed by jealousy that it wasn't from my home state or a place I care about.

Their WHIP is 3rd worst in all of baseball.  If it stays closer to 2.0 the runs scored will start to go up.

I’ve noticed on balls hit between LF and CF, yeli will let the CF make the throw. Nice that he’s adjusting to what he can do.

Their offense is also likely due to regress because it's unlikely mid-30s Arenado/Goldschmidt are MVP-calibre again.

I actually think St Louis might be an underperformer in the NL, opening the door for the likes of the D-Backs and maybe the Cubs?

Dodgers and Cardinals I think will miss the playoffs. Brewers and Dbacks take their spots.

Edit: Phillies might actually miss the playoffs, too. So two out of those three miss the playoffs.

I just watched the Sounds go 1-for-17 with RISP. I need some healing. Go Brewers!

Hey, but Sal is back at least? A swap of him for Wiemer could be in store at some point.

I wouldn't quite go that far - not that I'm saying Wiemer is lighting anything on fire as he certainly is not. Frelick still looks off to me. Two doubles is nice. But, it's just a start. He's still topping way too many balls (including the game ending grounder) and, in general, forcing things way too much. We need to build off tonight and see where we go from here, imho. Encouraging though. The gapper double was probably his hardest hit ball all year.

The real highlight of the night for me was Keston Hiura's home run-robbing grab at the left field wall giving the Sounds a chance maintaining the 3-2 deficit headed to the 9th. Hell of a play by Keston. I was shocked.

That HR robbery immediately followed up by Alvarez hitting a leadoff triple in the 9th had me thinking the Sounds were going to win.

Who cares which two as long as one of them is the Cardinals

I struggle to see the Dodgers missing the postseason, I think the Phillies are more likely.
