They need to modify the shift ban after the season into specific "go-zones". Hard hit shots up the middle are still going for outs because the infielders are positioning themselves at the far edge of second base.

Since when are hard hit shots up the middle guaranteed to be hits?

Freeman seems to just destroy the Brewers…….I’m too lazy to look up the stats.

He has an .866 OPS vs the Brewers which is slightly below his .893 career OPS but he has always mashed at Miller/AmFam to the tune of a .956 OPS.

Freddie Freeman is hitting . 269 with 64 hits, 14 home runs, 41 RBIs and 49 runs scored in 65 games versus the Brewers in his career. via Statmuse

Kershaw sure gets a wider plate than most.

Reminds me of the Maddox/Glavine days.  Umps would give them a huge strike zone on the corners due to their pin point reputation.

Conventional wisdom rules the day.

Brewers were lucky to get the Dodgers after a rough travel day to squeeze one win out of this series.

It’s what elite hitters do. It’s easy to forget that when the Brewers don’t have any.

Bringing Miley back out for the 6th was such a clear punting the game move. He was getting absolutely rocked the 2nd and 3rd time through the order. Down 4-1 vs Kershaw so Counsell decided to punt the game.

We are quickly nearing .500 baseball.

Bunch of hitters with sub .700 OPS, and pitchers with ERAs over 4; not a recipe for winning many games.

Well at least they play the Royals next. The Brewers have lost their fair share against bad teams but the Royals are the worst of the worst.

The best thing about Rea coming in this game is probably get to see Burnes Saturday when going to the game.

The roster is bargain shopping at the land of misfit toys.  Washed up cast offs, bottom of the barrel retreads and AAAA never were's.  All while the supposed stars are not performing.  This team had a lot of "ifs" that needed to go right and most did not, particularly health.  The only hope is that this might be one of the worst divisions in the game.  I don't for a second buy the Pirates but someone is going to win this thing.  They haven't been good for several weeks and no, a good series against the Royals proves nothing.

This division is pretty clearly the second-worst division in baseball (nothing can compete with the AL Central). While the Cards have an outside shot at the division, I think this will boil down to the Cubs and Brewers come September.

May the least-bad team win.

Like last year, it was supposed to be a team that won with its pitching and defense. Woodruff suffering a shoulder injury and having  no quality depth available hurts them because they never had the talent to out slug teams.

Just like in 2020, this years collection of vets they brought in trying to catch lightning in a bottle (Winker, Voit, Miller etc.) all look like busts at this point.

The Oakland A's run differential is over twice as bad...and they have a worse record. They are on pace to shatter the worst run differential in modern baseball history.

This team hasn't been the same since Woodruff and Mitchell got hurt.  Not that Mitchell is some perennial all-star, but he did provide a nice spark.

Yelich has had some awful luck this season. He's hitting the ball way better than he has the last 2 seasons but has underperformed his xwOBA by .048 which will only go up after today.
